I was sinking; the perfect Guru has extricated me.

The Guru has united me with the Lord from whom I was separated since many births. |3|

Shed thy self-conceit and end thine births and deaths.

Make obeisance unto the feet of God's slave. |2|

With every breath remember the Lord.
С каждым вдохом и выдохом помни Господа.
Amass that wealth, which may go with thee. |3|

He alone obtains the Name on whose brow such lot is scribed.

Anxiety is removed, and heart's desires are fulfilled,

Pain flees; peace comes and takes its place;

Guru's Feet place thou in the heart of thy heart.

Ocean of fire thou shalt cross through Lord's meditation. |2|

With Guru's Form fix thou thy attention.

Without one God there is not any other.

If Thou abidest in the mind, misery overtakes not the mortal then.

Sans the Name, the countenance is not lit by fortune.

Without her Spouse, where is the married-life? |2|

He, who forgetting the Name is attached with other relishes,

Thou art omnipotent, and Thou alone art my Master.

The perfect transcendent Lord is the support of His serf.
Совершенный, превышающий понимание Господь, является поддержкой Свого раба.
Seeking Thine shelter millions of persons are saved, O Master. |1| «Pause»

As many as the creatures are, they are all Thine.

From Thine grace many comforts ensue. |2|

Whatever happens, all that is in Thy will.

He, who understands His command, gets absorbed in the True Lord. |3|

Through very good fortune, God's vision is obtained by him,

All the treasures of goodness the Lord has placed within His slave's mind.

In His company sins and sorrows are effaced. |2|

The praises of God's attendant cannot be described.

The attendant remains absorbed in the Supreme Lord. |3|

Show mercy, O Lord, and hear my supplication.

By remembering God, thy calamity shall be averted

Night and day, sing the praises of the infinite Lord,

As per the holy instruction of the perfect Guru. |2|

Renounce other efforts, and put thy faith in thy Lord alone.

Thus shalt thou taste Nectar relish, the supremely precious commodity. |3|

Those persons alone cross the formidable ocean,

On whom, O Nanak, the Lord casts His merciful glance. |4|68|137|

Within my mind I have placed the Lord's Lotus Feet,

Then the difficult to obtain body is approved,
Тело, которое так трудно получить, оправдывается тогда,
When the mortal receives the 'Name certificate' from the True Guru. |2|

By remembering God, the perfect status is obtained.
Помня Бога, мы обретаем идеальный ранг.
In the society of Saints dread and doubt depart. |3|
В обществе Святых боязнь и сомнения исчезают.
Wherever I behold, there the Lord is pervading.

I am a sacrifice unto the vision of the reverend Guru.

Guru's Lotus Feet, I clasp to my mind and heart.

My life is rendered profitable and acceptable,

By deeming close to me the transcendent Lord Guru. |3|

Through the greatest good luck, the dust of Saints Feet is obtained.

Man does evil deeds but shows otherwise.

In the Lord's Court he shall be bound down like a thief. |1|

He, who remembers the Lord, belongs to the Lord.
Тот же, кто помнит Господа, принадлежит Господу.
The one Lord is contained in ocean, land and sky. |1| «Pause»
Единственный Господь содержится в океане, земле и на небе. «Пауза»
Within him is poison, and with his mouth he preaches Nectar.
Внутри человека есть яд, но своим ртом он проповедует Нектар.
Bound in Death's City he suffers strokes. |2|
Связанный, в Городе Смерти он страдает от ударов.
Hiding behind many screens, they commit acts of corruption,
Прячась за многочисленными ширмами, люди совершают искажённые действия,
But in an instant they are revealed to all the world. |3|
Однако в миг эти действия раскрываются всему миру.
Who is true from within and is imbued with the Name-Nectar,

O Nanak, unto him, God, the Describer of destiny, is merciful. |4|71|140|

Lord's love never departs.

Sitting with Saints, the Guru-ward sings Lord's praises.

The colour of His love shall never fade away. |2|

Without God's meditation, comfort is not obtained.

All other loves of mammon are insipid. |3|

They, whom the Guru stains with Lord's love, become happy.

Showing His mercy, the Lord has freed me of the fetters,

And has given me the support of His Lotus Feet. |3|

Says Nanak, the faith comes in the mind of God's servant,

And he ever quaffs the pure praises of the Lord. |4|73|142|

Thou shalt procure peace, equipoise, pleasure and great joy,

Lust, wrath, avarice, and ego are shed,

And in the guild of Saints, the mortal is washed clean of all the sins. |3|

Show Thine mercy, O Lord, compassionate to the poor,

They wear and eat the gifts from the Lord;

She, who forgetting her Spouse, attaches herself to other affairs,

Casts away the jewel in exchange for a shell. |1| «Pause»

She forsakes the Lord and is attached with the desire of others.

But who has acquired honour by saluting the slave instead of his Master? |2|

They consume food and drink delicious and sublime as ambrosial nectar.

But the dog does not know the One who has bestowed these. |3|

Says Nanak, I have been unfaithful to my own nature.

By placing God's Gospel in thy mind,

Thou shalt obtain all thine heart desired boons. |2|

Acceptable is the life, death and birth of him,

Within whose mind the auspicious Master abides. |3|

They eat and wear what they are given, but still they deny the Lord.

The messengers of the Righteous Judge of Dharma shall hunt them down. |1|

They are unfaithful to the One, who has given them body and soul.

Through millions of incarnations, for so many lifetimes, they wander lost. |1| «Pause»

Such is the lifestyle of the faithless cynics;

Everything they do is evil. |2|

Within his mind the man grows forgetful of that very Lord. |3|

His sins have increased and are penned down on volumes of paper.

O Nanak, the sinner is saved by the grace of the Ocean of peace. |4|

O Supreme Lord, I have entered Thine sanctuary.

For his own advantage man makes God his friend.

For their own purposes they enshrine the Lord in the heart;

All pain, suffering and disease are taken away. |2|

Whose tongue is habituated to repeat Lord's Name,

All his affairs are set aright. |3|

Many a time Nanak is a sacrifice unto his Lord,

Millions of obstacles are removed in a moment of him,

He quaffs Lord's Elixir, whose property is immortalising.

By reflecting on God's Feet, his hunger departs. |1| «Pause»

He obtains all the joy and the treasures of comfort and equipoise,

Within whose mind the fortunate Lord dwells. |2|

The medicines, spells and charms are all ashes.

The True Guru has given me the spell of God's Name.

By this support my affairs have been adjusted. |2|

I attained meditation, self-discipline, self-control, and perfect glory,

When the Succour, Guru-God, became merciful. |3|

Egotism, worldly love and superstition of mine, the Guru has annulled.

The blind beggar is better off than the vicious king.

For Thy slave, O Lord, Thou alone art the honour.

Mammon's intoxication leads the mortal to hell. |1| «Pause»

Caught by disease, the blind man repeats the Name.

But the vicious man intoxicated with vice has no room or place of rest. |2|

He, who bears love to Lord's Lotus Feet,

Thinks not of other comforts. |3|
О других удобствах не задумывается.
For ever and ever meditate upon the Lord Master.

Night and day the highway robbers are my comrades.

Everyone ought to repeat such Nectar, the Name of God.

That Lord is brimful with all the might. |1| «Pause»

Exceedingly scorching is the world-ocean.

In a moment the Lord causes the mortal to cross over. |2|

Many are the shackles, which cannot be shattered.

By remembering God's Name, man obtains the fruit of salvation. |3|

This man can accomplish nothing through any device or cleverness.

He, who obtains the wealth of God's Name,

Through the greatest good luck God's praises are sung.

My Supreme Lord, if Thou givest, then does the man obtain. |1| «Pause»

God's Feet enshrine thou in thy heart and mind.

Embarking on the ship of God's Feet, thou shalt cross the terrible ocean. |2|

Let everyone mix with the society of Saints,

Whereby eternal peace is obtained and pain harasses not again. |3|

With loving devotional worship, meditate on the Treasure of Excellence.

Like this, O Nanak, honour is obtained in Lord's Court. |4|84|153|

In water, land, and sky, God, the Friend, is fully contained.

In waking and sleep God is man's companion and watchman.

Enshrining Lord's Feet in the mind,

By having ablution in the Lord God's Name, I have been rendered pure.

With the Lord's Feet abiding in the heart,

The sinful mistakes of countless incarnations are removed. |1|

I have obtained the reward of singing God's praises in the Saints congregation,
Я получил награду петь Божьи похвалы в обществе Святых,
And hence death's way I see not. |2|
И с тех пор я больше не вижу путь смерти.
O man, in thought, word and deed seek the support of the Lord,
О человек, в мыслях, словах и поступках ищи поддержку Господа,
And therewith thou shalt be saved of the poisonous world. |3|
И тогда ты будешь защищён от ядовитого мира.
By His grace the Lord has made me His own.
По Своей милости Господь сделал меня Своим собственным.
O Nanak, meditate on the Name of God, who is worthy of meditation. |4|86|155|

Seek thou the shelter of those who have realised the Lord.

Lord, the Destroyer of dread, thou enshrinest not in thy mind;

He, within whose mind abides God's Name,

The one Lord is my intimate Friend and Comrade.

Abroad, the Saints carefully keep the Lord of World in their mind.

Lord God's Name is the Saints comrade.

Their soul and body are imbued with the love of the Omnipresent Lord. |1| «Pause»

By the Guru's grace the world-ocean is crossed,

And the sins of many births are all washed off. |2|

Through the Name of the auspicious Master, honour and divine understanding are acquired.

Pure is the teaching of the perfect Guru. |3|

On Lord's Lotus Feet meditate thou in thy mind.

Calamity is there where God's meditation is not.

Millions of joys are where God's glories are chanted. |1|

Forgetting God, good many anguishes and maladies overtake the man.

By virtue of Lord's service, Deaths courier draws not near the mortal. |2|

Very lucky and stable is the place,

In this world his advent is approved,

The mammon-worshipper keeps not company with God's servant.

It would be like an imaginary rider on a decorated horse,

Or a eunuch caressing a woman. |1|

It would be like tying up an ox and trying to milk it,
Это было бы подобно тому, что мы привязали бы быка и пытались получить от него

Or riding a cow to chase a tiger. |2|
Или если бы мы оседлали корову для того, чтобы прогнать тигра.
It would be like taking a sheep and worshipping it as the Elysian cow, the giver of all blessings;

That intellect is said to be pure and steadfast,

Pure is that body, in which sin does not arise.
Непорочно то тело, в котором не возникает греха.
Through the Lord's love, pure glory is obtained. |2|

In the society of Saints the vice is effaced.

This is the Lord's greatest beneficence unto thee. |3|

Those, who are stained with the love adoration of the Sustainer of the Universe,

As the wife is delighted on beholding her spouse,

That is how God's slave lives by repeating His Name. |1|

As the mother revives on seeing her son,

So is God's serf imbued with Him like thread of cloth. |2|

As the greedy man rejoices to see the wealth,

So is Lord's servant's soul attached with His Lotus Feet. |3|
Так и душа слуги Господа прикреплена к Его Лотусовым Ногам.
I forget Thee not even for a trice, O my beneficent Lord.

The Saints who are inured to Lord's Elixir,

All other enjoyments appear like ashes;

The Lord Himself takes out of the blind well.

Wondrous and glorious are the praises of the Lord of the Universe. |2|

In woods, vegetation and the three worlds, the Cherisher of the Universe is fully pervading.

The merciful Lord of the Creation is with the mortal. |3|

Says Nanak, that speech alone is excellent,

The Saints remember God and make merry.

Their soul and the body remain immersed in the supreme bliss. |3|

He, who has obtained the treasure of God's Feet,

Do thou only that by which filth may not attach to thee,

Meditate in the one Lord and think not duality.

Rituals, duty, religious rites, fasting and worship -

Are all covered recognising none else in sans the Supreme Lord. |2|
Всё это влючено в том, что ты опознаёшь никого другого кроме Наивысшего Господа.
The toil of those is approved,
Труд тех одобряется,
Whose affection is with their own Master. |3|
Которые имеют нежность к своему собственному Мастеру.
Infinitely invaluable is that vegetarian,

In thy life the kinsmen leave thee, O mad man.

Whosoever has partaken of the poison of deception,

The arduous world-ocean is with dreadful distresses.
Трудный мир-океан содержит в себе ужасные муки.
Without the Name of pervading God how shall the mortal cross it? |3|

In the company of Saints save thine both generations,
«В обществе Святых ты спаси оба свои поколения»,
Says Nanak, by remembering the Lord's Name. |4|97|166|

If one haughtily strokes his beard on the poor,

The Lofty Lord burns it in fire. |1|

The Creator administers perfect justice.
Творец раздаёт идеальное правосудие.
He is the Saviour of His slave. |1| «Pause»

In the beginning and throughout the ages His glory is manifest.
С самого начала и через все века Его слава очевидна.
The slanderer dies of catching high fever. |2|
Клеветник умирает, подхватив высокую температуру.
He is killed, and no one can save him.
Его убивают, и никто не в состоянии его спасти.
Here and hereafter evil is his reputation. |3|
Здесь и в потустороннем мире его репутация остаётся порочной.
His serfs the Lord keeps clasped to His bosom.
А Своих рабов Господь прижимает к Своей груди.
Nanak seeks God's shelter and meditates on His Name. |4|98|167|

The Lord Himself proved the memorandum to be false.

The sinner is now suffering in despair. |1|

Those who have my Lord of the Universe as their support –
Те же, поддержкой которых является мой Господь Вселенной –
Death does not even approach them. |1| «Pause»

The blind fool tells lies in the True Court,
Слепой глупец лжёт при Истинном Дворе,
And smites his head with his hands. |2|
И ударяет свою голову руками.
Ailments afflict those who commit sins.
Недуги причиняют боль тем, кто совершают грехи.
The Lord Himself sits as the Judge. |3|
Сам Господь является Судьёй.
They are bound by their own actions.
Они связаны своими собственными действиями.
All their wealth goes away with their life. |4|
Всё их богатство уходит вместе с их жизьнью.
Nanak has taken the shelter of Lord's Court.

The dust of Feet of the Saints is sweet unto my mind.

The mind is brimful with the grease of haughty intellect.
Разум до краёв наполнен жиром надменного интеллекта.
With the dust of the Feet of the Saints it is scrubbed clean. |1|
Пылью Ног Святых его можно очистить.
The body may be washed with loads of water,
Мы можем мыть тело огромным количеством воды,
And yet its filth is not removed, and it does not become clean. |2|
И всё же грязь не смывается, и тело не очищается.
I have met the ever merciful True Guru,
Я встретился со всегда милосердным, Истинным Гуру,
And by pondering and contemplating over God, I have cast off the fear of death. |3|
И, размышляя и медитируя на Бога, я избавился от страха смерти.
Salvation, dainties and secular success are all in God's Name.
Спасение, лакомства и мирской успех – всё находится в Имени Божьем.
With devotional affection, O Nanak, sing God's praises. |4|100|169|

God's slaves attain to the immortal status.

By meeting them the soul is illumined. |1|

With your mind and ears hear God's Name,

And thou shalt obtain peace at God's Gate, O mortal. |1| «Pause»

Throughout the eight watches meditate on the Cherisher of the World.
Все 24 часа суток медитируй на Покровителя Мира.
By beholding Lord's vision, Nanak is very pleased. |2|101|170|

Peace has ensued. The Guru-God has rained it.

With thy tongue, do thou ever repeat Lord's Name.

Thine ailments shall go, and thou shalt be emancipated. |1|

Reflect over the merits of the Inscrutable Supreme Lord.
Размышляй о достоинствах Неисповедимого, Наивысшего Господа.
In the guild of the righteous emancipation is obtained. |2|
В обществе праведных ты обретёшь освобождение.
O my friend, who forever and ever sings the pure praises of God,
О мой друг, тот, кто вовеки веков поёт непорочные похвалы Богу,
His ailments pass away, and he is saved. |3|
Его недуги проходят, и он спасается.
With thought, word and deed I dwell upon my Master.
В мыслях, словах и поступках я концентрируюсь на моём Мастере.
Slave Nanak has entered Thine sanctuary, O Lord. |4|102|171|

The Divine Guru has opened the eyes.

The Giver of joy has saved him from smallpox.

The Lofty Lord Master has shown His mercy. |1|

O Nanak, he alone lives, who chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
О Нанак, только тот живёт, кто повторят Наам – Имя Господа.
In the assembly of the pious persons, he drinks God's Elixir. |2|103|172|

Blessed is that forehead and blessed are those eyes;

Blessed are those devotees who are in love with Thou. |1|

Without the Name, how can peace be obtained?
Без Имени, как мы можем обрести покой?
With thy tongue repeat thou the praises of the Lords Name. |1| «Pause»
Своим языком ты повторяй похвалы Имени Господа. «Пауза»
Nanak is a sacrifice unto those,
Нанак приносит себя в жертву тем,
Who meditate on the immaculate Lord. |2|104|173|

Thou art my counsel, and Thou art ever with me.

Thou alone carefully preservest me. |1|

Such is the omnipresent Lord, who is my succour in the world beyond and this one.
Таков мой вездесущий Господь – мой помощник в потустороннем мире и в этом.
He saves the honour of His servant, O my brother. |1| «Pause»

He alone exists hereafter; this place is in His power.
Только Он существует в последующем мире; это место в Его власти.
Day and night, O my soul, do thou meditate on God. |2|
Днём и ночью, О моя душа, ты медитируй на Бога.
His honour is approved, and he alone comes to bear the mark of the True Name,
Честь того одобряется, и только он носит метку Истинного Имени,
For whom the Lord Himself issues the command. |3|

The Lord Himself is the giver, and Himself the cherisher.
Господь Сам является дающим, и Сам – покровителем.

When the perfect True Guru becomes merciful,
Когда совершенный, Истинный Гуру проявляет милосердие,
God, the Nurturer of the Universe, ever abides within man's mind. |1|
Тогда Бог – Кормитель Вселенной, всегда пребывает в разуме человека.
By deliberating over the pervading Lord, I have gained eternal peace.
Размышляя о всепроникающем Господе, я обрёл вечный покой.
