O mother, one who sings the hymns of Lord's praise,

And enshrines affection for the supreme Master, fruitful is his advent and advantageous the life of him. |1| «Pause»
И хранит нежность к наивысшему Мастеру, плодотворно его пришествие в этот мир и
выгодна его жизнь. «Пауза»
Beauteous, wise, valiant and divine is he, who obtains the society of Saints.
Прекрасен, мудр, мужествен и восхитителен тот, кто обретает общество Святых.
He utters God's Name with his tongue and again wanders not in births. |1|
Своим языком он произносит Имя Божие, и он больше не скитается по рождениям.
The perfect Lord abides within his body and mind, and he sees not another.
Совершенный Господь пребывает внутри его тела и разума, и он не видит никого
другого.
O Nanak, hell and affliction befall not him, who joins the society of Lord's slaves and whom the Lord attaches to the hem of His robe. |2|14|
О Нанак, ад и несчастия не случаются с тем, кто соединяется с обществом рабов
Господа, и кого Господь прикрепляет с подолу Своей мантии.

Man's mercurial mind is entangled in the dream.

Even this much he understands not, that someday he has to depart. He is gone mad with mammon. |1| «Pause»
Он даже не понимает того, что в один день ему придётся отсюда уйти. Он помешался
на мамоне. «Пауза»
He is engrossed in the relish of the society and colour of a flower, and strives only to commit sin.
Он охвачен вкусом общества и окраской цветка, и старается только совершать
грехи.
Wherever he hears some talk of greed, he feels happy in his mind and instantaneously runs thither. |1|
Где бы он ни слышал разговор о жадности, он чувствует в своём разуме радость и
немедленно туда бежит.
Wandering and roaming all around, I have endured great pain, but now I have come to the door of the Saint.
Бродя и скитаясь повсюду, я перенёс обромную боль, но теперь я пришёл к двери
Святого.
Showering His benediction, the Lord Master has blended Nanak with Himself. |2|15|

All the comforts abide in Guru's Feet.

Guru's feet drive away my sins, purify the soul and through their prop I am saved. |1| «Pause»

Their worship, flower offering, service and obeisance unto them, this is the labour which I perform.
Я им поклоняюсь, предлагаю цветы, служу и отдаю подчтение – это тот труд,

Touching them my soul is in bloom and is illumined, and I am cast not into the womb again. |1|
Дотрагиваясь до них, моя душа расцвела и освятилась, и меня больше не бросят в

I behold the fruitful vision of the Saint Guru, and this is the meditation I have taken.
Я созерцаю плодотвоное вѝдение Святого Гуру, и это та медитация, которой я

The Lord has become merciful unto Nanak, and he has entered the sanctuary of the Saint Guru. |2|16|

Say thou thy prayer to thy God.
Ты скажи молитву своему Богу.
Thus shalt thou obtain four cardinal boons, treasures of peace and pleasure, celestial bliss and supernatural powers. |1| «Pause»
Так ты обретёшь четыре основные милости, сокровища покоя и удовольствия,
небесное блаженство и сверхестественные силы. «Пауза»
Shed thou thy self-conceit, fall at the God's feet and hold fast to the hem of Lord's robe.
Сбрось с себя своё самодовольство, упади к ногам Гуру и крепко держись за подол
мантии Господа.
The heat of the ocean of fire affects not him, who longs for the Lord's protection. |1|
Жар океана огня не влияет на того, кто желает покровительства Господа.
Again and again, the Lord puts up with the millions of sins of the supremely ungrateful ones.
Снова и снова Господь переносит миллионы грехов в наивысшей степени
неблагодарных.
Nanak longs for the protection of that perfect Lord, the embodiment of mercy. |2|17|

By placing Guru's Feet within the mind,

There by, the sins of many births are eradicated and one obtains the merit of millions of baths and ablutions at the shrines.
Чрез это, искореняются грехи множества рождений, и мы обретаем заслугу миллионов
омовений в местах паломничества.
By singing the praise of Lord – the Name's ocean, man's attention is easily fixed on Him. |1|
Когда человек поёт похвалы Господу – океану Имени, тогда его внимание с
лёгкостью фиксируется на Нём.
Showing mercy, the Lord has made me His slave and, snapping my bonds, He has liberated me.
Проявив милосердие, Господь сделал меня Своим рабом и, расколов мои узы, Он меня
освободил.
I live by continuously repeating Thy Name and Gurbani. Servant Nanak is a sacrifice unto Thee, O Lord. |2|18| Cẖẖake 3

Applying the dust of Saints feet to my face and forehead, I burn up the poison of lust and wrath.
Прилагая к своему лицу и лбу пыль ног Святого, я сжегаю яд похоти и алчности.
The lowest of all, I deem my own self, and this way I install peace within my mind. |1|
Я считаю себя самым низким, и таким образом я устанавливаю в своём разуме покой.
I sing the praise of the imperishable Lord and shake off all my sins.
Я пою похвалы нетленному Господу и сбрасываю свои грехи.
I have found the gift of the Name treasure, O Nanak. I hug it to my bosom and clasp it to my heart. |2|19|

My venerable Lord, I long to see Thine sight.

I have looked into and reflected upon the reality of the Shashtras, the Vedas, the Puranas and the Simirtis.

The perfect Master – the friend of the meek and the Lord of life, ferries us across the terrible world-ocean. |1|
Совершенный Мастер – друг кротких и Господь жизни, перевозит нас через ужасающий
мир-кеан.
From the very prime and beginning of ages, the Holy men are Thine attendants, O Lord, and Thou art their support in the midst of mammon.
С самого начала, и начала веков, Святые люди являются Твоими слугами, О Господь,
а Ты являешься их поддержкой среди мамоны.
Nanak ever longs for the dust of the feet of such persons, and the Lord is the giver of this boon. |2|20|

Thy servant, O Lord, is intoxicated with Thy elixir.

He, who obtains the treasure of the Nectar of love, forsakes it not to go elsewhere. |1| «Pause»

Seated, he repeats God's Name; sleeping he repeats God's Name; and God's Nectar he takes for his food.
Сидя, он повторяет Имя Божие; спя, он повторят Имя Божие; и Имя Божие он
принимает в пищу.
Bathing in the dust of Saints Feet is equal to the ablutions at sixty eight shrines. |1|
Купаться в пыли Ног Святого, равносильно омовению в 68-ми местах паломничества.
Profitable is the birth and advent of Gods slave; the Creator is his Father.
Прибыльно рождение и прибытие Божьего раба; Творец – его Отец.
O Nanak, he who recognises the omnipresent Lord, takes all with him and saves everyone. |2|21|
О Нанак, тот, кто опознаёт вездесущего Господа, забирает всех с собою и спасает
всех.

O my mother, without the Guru, Divine knowledge is not obtained.
О моя мама, без Гуру, Небесное знание обрести невозможно.
The mortals wander, bewailing in various ways, but the Lord of the World meets them not. |1| «Pause»
Смертные скитаются, сетуя различными способами, однако Господь Вселенной их не
встречает. «Пауза»
With worldly love, disease and sorrow, man's body is tied; so he is goaded into many existences.
Тело человека связано мирской любовью, болезнями и горем; и так, его подстрекают
во множество перевоплощений.
Without the Saints' society, he is not allowed to stay anywhere. Before whom may he go and weep? |1|
Без общества Святых, ему не позволяют нигде остановиться. К кому он может пойти
и плакать?
When my Master is in mercy, man enshrines affection for the Saints feet.
Когда мой Мастер милосерден, тогда человек хранит нежность к ногам Святого.
His dreadful distresses are dispelled in a moment, O Nanak, and he merges into God's vision. |2|22|
Его ужасные болезни в мгновение исчезают, О Нанак, и он сливается с образом
Бога.

The Lord Himself has become merciful.

I am emancipated and have become an embodiment of bliss. I, the Lord's child, have been saved. «Pause»

Joining both the hands, I make supplication and, within my mind, I meditate on the transcendent Lord.
Со сложенными руками, я молюсь, и, своим разумом, я медитирую на
трансцендентального Господа.
Giving His hand, the supreme Lord has saved me and eradicated all my sins. |1|
Подав Свою руку, наивысший Господь меня спас и удалил все мои грехи.
The husband and wife join together in rejoicing and singing victory of the Lord.

Says Nanak, I am sacrifice unto the Lords slave, who emancipates one and all. |2|23|

Lord, the Destroyer of distress, has become kind and compassionate, and my anxieties are all over. «Pause»

I am sinful, hypocritical and greedy, and He puts up with all my virtues and vices.
Я – грешник, лицемер, и я жадный, а Он переносит все мои добродетели и пороки.
The Lord has created me and, placing His hand on my brow, has exalted me. The
sinners, who wanted to destroy me, are themselves destroyed. |1|
Господь меня создал и, положив Свою руку мне на лоб, он меня возвысил.
Грешников, которые хотели меня уничтожить, теперь их самих уничтожили.
My Guru is the philanthropist, the beautifier of all and the embodiment of peace, whose very vision is fruitful.

He is the benefactor of the meritless, and His lotus feet I place within my mind, says Nanak. |2|24|

My Lord is the Master of the Master-less.

Protect me on all fronts, O Lord – the enemy of ego;

Protect me in the future, in the past and at the last moment. |1|

Whenever I think, then I think of Thine virtues.

Reflecting over them, my soul is sanctified. |2|

I hear and sing the hymns of the Guru's Word.

I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice unto sight of the Saint Guru. |3|

Within my mind I have the prop of the Lord alone.

In the early morn, I fall at the feet of Lord's slaves, and night and day have their vision.

Surrendering my body and soul, I serve Lord's servant, and with my tongue I sing God's praise. |1|
Сдав свои тело и душу, я служу слуге Господа, и своим языком я пою похвалы Богу.
At every breath, I remember my Lord and I ever abide in the society of Saints.

God's Name is my sole support and wealth. From it alone, Nanak obtains delight. |2|26|

I have met the fascinating Lord, who blesses me with all the comforts; He does not leave me to go anywhere else.

I have seen men of various and many types, but they equal not even a hair of my Spouse. |1|

Illustrious is Lord's palace and beauteous His gate, wherein rings the melodious celestial strain.

Says Nanak, I ever enjoy bliss as I have attained as ever stable abode in my Beloved's home. |2|1|27|

My soul longs for God's vision and Name.

Whom should I serve? And whom should I contemplate? As whosoever is seen, he shall go away.

I have sought the refuge of the Saints society and my mind longs for the dust of their feet. |1|
Я искал убежище в обществе Святых, и мой разум тоскует по пыли их ног.
I know not the way, nor do I have any virtue. It is very difficult to escape from mammon.
Я не знаю пути, и у меня нет никаких добродетелей. Очень трудно спастись от
мамоны.
Nanak has come and fallen at the Guru's feet, and then, all his evil desires are annulled. |2|2|28|

My Beloved, ambrosial are Thine words.

I desire not empire and I desire not salvation, my soul longs for the love of Thine lotus feet.
Я не хочу империю и я не хочу спасения, моя душа жаждует любви к Твоим лотусовым
ногам.
There are Brahma, Shiv, adepts, sages and Indra, but I desire the Lord's vision alone. |1|
Есть Брахма, Шив, знатоки, мудрецы и Индра, однако я жаждую увидеть только
Господа.
O Lord, I have come helpless to Thy door, and having grown weary, have entered the asylum of Thine Saints.
О Господь, я, беспомощный пришёл к Твоей двери, и, уставший, я вошёл в приют
Твоих Святых.
Says Nanak, I have met the beauteous Lord, and my soul is cooled and happy. |2|3|29|

By remembering the Lord, His servant swims across.

рождается, чтобы снова умереть. «Пауза»
In the Saints society, he hymns God's praise and loses not his gem-like human life.
В обшестве Святых он поёт похвалы Богу, и он не потерял драгоценный камень
человеческой жизни.
Singing the Lord's glories, he crosses the ocean of poison and saves his entire lineage as well. |1|
Славославя Господа, он пересекает океан яда, а также спасает всю свою
родословную.
Lord's lotus feet abide within his mind, and with his every breath and morsel, he repeats Lord's Name.
Лотусовые ноги Господа пребывают в его разуме, и, с каждым вдохом, выдохом и
кусочком пищи, он повторяет Имя Господа.
Nanak has grasped the protection of the Lord of the Universe, and he is again and again, a sacrifice unto Him. |2|4|30|

Some wonder around the forests wearing religious robs, but the fascinating Lord remains distant from them. |1| «Pause»
Некоторые люди, одев религиозную одежду, скитаются по лесу, однако
очаровательный Господь остаётся от них далеко. «Пауза»
They discourse, preach and sing good songs, but in their mind exists the filth of sins.
Они рассуждают, проповедуют и поют хорошие песни, одноко в разуме у них
содержится грязь грехов.
It is easy to be very beauteous, exceedingly shrewd, wise educated and of sweet speech. |2|
Легко быть очень красивым, чрезвычайно хитрым, хорошо образовынным и сладко
говорить.
To forsake pride, worldly love, my-ness and thy-ness, is a path on the edge of a double edged sword.
А оставить гордость, мирскую любовь, «моё» и «твоё» – это путь по лезвию сабли,
имеющей острое лезвие с обеих сторон.
Says Nanak, they alone swim across the dreadful world ocean, who by Lord's grace, meet the society of Saints. |4|1|31|
Говорит Нанак: «Только те переплывают через ужасный мир-океан, которые по
милости Господа встречаются с обществом Святых».

O, I have seen the Lord to be high. The bewitching Master is the highest of all.

No one else is equal to Him; I have made the most extensive search on this. |1| «Pause»
Нет никого Ему равного; по этому поводу я провёл самые обширные поиски. «Пауза»
Utterly infinite, exceedingly great, deep and unfathomable is He; He is lofty, beyond reach.
Он полностью безграничный, чрезвычайно великий, непометный и непостижимый; Он –
возвышенный и недосягаемый.
He weight cannot be weighted; His value cannot be estimated. How can Enticer of the mind be attained? |1|
Его вес взесить невозможно; Его ценность оценить невозможно. Как же можно
достичь Соблазнителя разума?
Millions search Him through various paths, but without the Guru, none finds Him.
Миллионы, всевозможными путями, Его ищут, но без Гуру, Его не найти.
Says Nanak, the Lord has been merciful, and meeting the Saint-Guru, I quaff His elixir. |2|1|32|

O, I have seen in many ways, there is not another like the Lord.

In all the regions and islands, He is contained, and fully pervading is He in all the worlds. |1| «Pause»
Во всех регионах и на островах – содержится Он, и Он повсюду распространяется по
всем мирам. «Пауза»
The remotest of the remote is He. Who can utter His praise? My soul lives by hearing of His tidings.
Он – самый дальный из всех дальных. Кто может произносить Ему похвалы? Моя душа
живёт, слушая о Его новостях.
By serving Thee, O Lord, the mortals of the four religious orders and four casts, are emancipated. |1|
Служа Тебе, О Господь, смертные четырёх религиозных распределений и четырёх
каст, освобождаются.
The Guru has implanted in me His instruction, and I have attained the supreme status. My duality is dispelled and I have procured peace.
Гуру вкоренил во мне Свои инструкции, и я достиг наивысшего статуса. Моя
двойственность рассеялась, и я получил покой.
Says Nanak, by obtaining the treasure of God's Name, I have easily crossed the terrible world-ocean. |2|2|33|
Говорит Нанак: «Обретя сокровище Имени Божьего, я с лёгкостью пересёк ужасный
мир-океан».

Why wander? Wander thou not, O brother. The Lord is contained in all the places. |1|

As the fire in the wood cannot serve the purpose without an effort,
Как и огонь в дереве не может добиться цели без усилия,
Similarly without the Guru, the reverend Lord's door cannot be attained to.

O merciful Lord, the Ocean of mercy, I crave this boon of Thee, not to bring me face to face with the mammon-worshiper.

Prosperity, supernatural powers and wealth are at the palm of Thy hand. O Lord,

Incomputable, illimitable, incomprehensible and immaculate is the Lord who has lured away the whole world.

With God's Name nectar the mind is washed clean.

O my soul, by Guru's instruction hold thy mind and it shall not wander to any other place again.

He, who utters the praise, worthy hymns of the God Lord, O Nanak, obtains the fruit his heart desires. |1|

O my soul, by Guru's instruction, the Name Nectar abides within man's mind, and he, then, with his mouth, utters nectar-sweet words.

он своим ртом повторяет сладкие как нектар слова.
Nectar-sweet are the hymns of the saintly persons, O my soul. By heartily hearing them, one comes to embrace affection for the Lord.

I have obtained the Lord God since long-separated from me, and He has, naturally, hugged me to His bosom.

Servant Nanak's mind is in bliss, O my soul, and the celestial strain rings within him. |2|

O my soul, let my comrades and friends come and unite me with my Lord Master.

Meditating on the Lord Master's Name, O my soul, this dried up frame is rejuvenated.

The Lord by His writ has made my destiny great, O my soul, and slave Nanak has merged in the Name. |1|

Self-conceit has separated the way-wards from the Lord and has bound them to

As a bird, like a pigeon of himself falls into a net, O my soul, similarly all the self-willed come under the spell of death.

Faithless, foolish and devilish are the mortals, O my soil, who fix their mind on worldly love and wealth.

Immaculate is the Lord Master's Name, O my soul, and by meditating on the Name of the Lord Master, the mortal is delivered.

All the sins, misdeeds and pains are effaced, O my soul, and through the Name the exalted Guru removes the filth.

By great good fortune, servant Nanak meditates on the Lord; even fools and idiots like me have been saved. |1|

Those, who meditate on God's Name, O my soul, overpower their five evil desires.

The Guru has fulfilled my hopes and yearning, O my soul, and by meeting God, all the hunger of mine is satiated.

The Guru has poured God's elixir into my mouth, O my life, and then, my dead soul has come to life again.

Says serf Nanak, those who meet with the True Guru, O my soul, all their woes are dispelled. |3|

They, who attach their mind to temporal love and worldly valuables, O my soul, regretfully depart in the end.

The perverse persons, who are deluded by sin, O my soul, find no place of rest in God's Court.

Says slave Nanak, they who meet the Guru and meditate over God, are saved, O my soul, and are absorbed in Gods Name. |1|

Go ye all and meet the True Guru, O my soul, who fixes the Lord Gods Name in the heart.

Make not a moment's delay in contemplating over God, O my soul, as who knows whether mortal shall draw or draw not another breath?
