Nanak has served his perfect Guru, O my soul, who has made all men to fall at His feet. |3|

Slave Nanak has meditated on the Name, O my soul; such is the pre-ordained
destiny which the Lord had writ on his forehead since the very beginning. |4|5|

Within and without, God is with the man, O my soul, and He beholds everything, but the man denies the Lord in his mind.

God is far away from the self-willed persons, O my mind, and all their toils go in vain.

Slave Nanak has meditated over God, O my soul, through the Guru, and he sees Lord's presence all over. |1|

They alone are the devotees and they alone the servants, O my soul, who are pleasing to my Lord's mind.

They are robed in honour in the Court of God, O my soul, and day and night remain absorbed in the True Lord.

In their company the filth of sins is washed off, O my soul, and one is imbued with the Lord's love and comes to bear the mark of Master's grace.

Nanak makes a supplication before his Lord, O my soul, that meeting the Saints guild, he may remain sated. |2|

O my soul, O my tongue, meditate thou on the World-Lord, that by remembering the Lord God, thy worldly desires be extinguished.

He, to whom my transcendent Lord shows mercy, O my soul, in his mind, he enshrines His Name.

He, who meets the perfect True Guru, O my soul, obtains the treasure of God's wealth.

O Nanak, through the great good fortune, the society of Saints is obtained, O my soul, wherein God's praises are sung. |3|

In all the places and inter-spaces the supreme Lord and the beneficent Master prevails, O my soul.

His limits cannot be known, O my soul. He is all-perfection, and all-pervading and arbiter of destiny.

O my soul, the Lord cherishes all the beings, as do father and mother cherish their child.

God has made this world as a beautiful arena, O my venerable beloveds, where all the mortals continue coming and going.

He, who created the world, has destined the mortals coming and going.

Some, who meet the True Guru, God invites to His mansion, and some wander astray in doubt.

Thy limit Thou alone knowest, O Lord, and Thou art contained amongst all.

Come and meet me, O mates, my venerable beloveds, and let us meditate on Lord God's Name.

Let us perform the perfect True Guru's service, O my beloveds, and smoothen the way of death.

Having smoothed the arduous road, through the Guru, we shall attain honour in the God's Court.

They, whom the Creator has so pre-ordained, fix their attention on the Lord, night and day.

Self-conceit, egoism and worldly love, depart, when man meets the society of Saints.

O Saints, my venerable beloveds, let us get together and with-joined hands, adore the imperishable, omnipotent Lord.
О Святые, мои уважаемые возлюбленные, давайте соберёмся вместе и, со сложенными
руками, будем обожать нетленного, всемогущего Господа.
In vain did I seek Him through adorations of many kinds. Let us now offer all this mind and body to the Lord, O my beloved.
Я не достиг успеха ища Его при помощи различных способов поклонения. Давайте
теперь предложим Ему всё это – и разум и тело, О мои волюбленные.
The mind, body and wealth all belong to the Lord. What can anyone offer to Him in worship?
Разум, тело и богатство – всё принадлежит Господу. Что может кто-нибудь Ему
предложить в богослужении?
He alone merges into the Lord's lap, unto whom the merciful Master becomes compassionate.
Только тот погружается на колени Господа, к кому милосердный Мастер проявляет

He, on whose brow such destiny is written, comes to bear love with the Guru.

Says slave Nanak, joining the Saints society, let us worship the Lord God's Name. |3|

I have been searching in ten directions, O my honourable beloveds, but have found God in the home of my heart, on return.

The reverend Lord has made this body-palace, O my beloveds, and there in the Lord continues to abide.

продолжает жить Господь.
The Lord abides in all, and through the Guru, He manifests Himself.
Господь пребывает во всех, и через Гуру, Он Себя проявляет.
When the Guru trickles the essence of God's Nectar into man's mouth, his darkness is dispelled and troubles removed.
Когда Гуру капает в рот человеку эссенцию Божьего Нектара, тогда его тьма
рассеивается и заботы исчезают.
Wither-so-ever I look, thither I find the Lord. The transcendent Lord is pervading everywhere.

Says slave Nanak, the True Guru has united me with God, and I have found Him on returning to mind's home. |4|1|

The fascinating Lord, ornament of soul and the support of life, is supremely dear unto me.

Beautiful is the glory of the merciful and beloved Master, who is beyond limit and comprehension.
Прекрасна слава милосердного и возлюбленного Мастера, который вне пределов и

O Thou, the compassionate and beloved Lord Master, O my Spouse, meet Thou Thy meek bride.
О Ты, сострадательный и возлюбленный Господь Мастер, О мой Супруг, встреть же Ты
Свою кроткую невесту.
Mine eyes long for seeing Thy sight. The night rolls on, but I can sleep not.
Мои глаза жаждуют увидеть Тебя. Ночи проходят, но я не могу спать.
I have applied the healing ointment of spiritual wisdom to my eyes and have made God's Name my victual. Thus are all my decorations done.
Я приложила к глазам целебное лекарство духовной мудрости и сделела Имя Божье
своим съестным запасом. И так, все мои украшения готовы.
Says Nanak, that he remembers and supplicates the Saint-Guru, to unite him with his Spouse. |1|

I have to bear lacs of reproaches, and still my Lord Master meets me not.

I make efforts to meet my God, but no effort of mine is effective.

Unsteady is the mind and unstable the wealth. Without my dear Lord, in no way am I consoled.

Vain are the articles of food, drink and decoration. How can I live without God, my Spouse?
Тщенными являются предметы пищи, питьё и все украшения. Как могу я жить без Бога

Night and day I crave and thirst for Him; I can live not without Him even for a moment.
Ночью и днём я страстно желаю Его и Его жаждую; я не могу жить без Него даже

Says Nanak, O my Saint-Guru, I am a serf of Thine. By Thy grace alone can I meet my Beloved. |2|

I have one common bed with my Groom, but I behold not His sight.

In me are countless demerits. How can my Lord-Spouse call me into His presence?

меня к Себе?
The virtue-less, unhonoured and orphan-bride supplicates Thee. Meet me O Lord, the Treasure of mercy.
Сирота-невеста, у которой нет ни добродетели, ни чести, Тебе молится: «Приди ко
мне О Господь – Сокровище милосердия».
By seeing - even for a moment - the Lord of nine treasures, my wall of scepticism is shattered and I sleep in peace.

и я сплю спокойно.
If my dear Lord comes into my home and dwells there, I, in His company shall sing songs of joy.
Если дорогой Господь придёт в мой дом и будет там жить, тогда я, будя с Ним,

Prays Nanak, I seek the sanctuary of the Saints, O Lord, show me Thy vision. |3|

By the Saints grace, I have obtained the Lord God.
По милости Святого я обрёл Господа Бога.
My desire is fulfilled, my mind is cooled and the fire within me is quenched.

Fruitful is the day, delightful the night and many are the joys, rejoicings and the pleasures,
Плодотворен тот день, восхитительна та ночь и многочисленны радости, веселья и
удовольствия тогда,
When the beloved Lord Master becomes manifest; with what tongue can I narrate His excellences?

My doubt, avarice, worldly attachment and wickedness are stilled, and on meeting my mates I sing songs of joy.

Says Nanak, I dwell upon the Saint-Guru, who has effected my union with the Lord God. |4|2|

I utter the ambrosial Gurbani brimful with Thy praise, O God; Thy will seems sweet unto me.

O World-Cherisher and the Master of the Universe, show kindness and compassion unto me. Without Thee, I have not another.

O my omnipotent, ineffable, infinite and omnipresent Master, my life, body, wealth and soul are all Thine.

I am foolish, stupid, Master-less, restless, powerless, mean and ignorant.

Supplicates Nanak, I seek Thy refuge, O Lord. Save me from coming and going in reincarnation. |1|

In the sanctuary of Saints, I have attained the venerable God and ever sing the Lord's praise.
В святилище Святых, я достиг многоуважаемого Бога и всегда пою похвалы Господу.
If the dust of the devotees feet be applied to the mind and body, O reverend Lord, all the sinners become pure.
Если приложить к разуму и телу пыль ног Тебе преданных, О благоговейный Господь,
тогда все грешники могут стать непорочными.
The sinners get sanctified in the society of those who have met the Creator Lord.
Грешники очищаются от пороков в обществе тех, которые встретились с Творцом
Господом.
Imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, they are given the gift of the life of the soul; their gifts increase day by day.
Пропитаные Наамом – Именем Господа, они получают подарок жизни души; их дары
увеличиваются со дня на день.
They, who meditate on God and conquer their mind, obtain wealth, success and nine treasures.
Те, которые медитируют на Бога и покоряют свой разум, обретают богатство, успех
и девять сокровищ.
Prays Nanak, O friend, it is by good destiny that Saints, the intimates of God, are obtained. |2|

They alone, who deal in Truth, O reverent Lord, are the perfect bankers.

O venerable God, they possess the immense treasure and reap the profit of Lord's praise.

Lust, wrath and avarice cling not to the persons, who are imbued with the Lord.

They recognise one, believe in one and are intoxicated with one Lord's love.

They fall at the Saint-Guru's feet and seek His shelter, and within their mind is joy.

Prays Nanak, they alone are the true bankers, who have the Name in their lap. |3|

Meditate thou on that reverend God, O Nanak, who by His might supports all.

In their mind, the pious persons forget not the honourable God who is the mighty Creator and the slayer of Mur demon.
Набожные люди в своём разуме не забывают благородного Бога – мощного Творца,
который уничтожил демона Мур.
Anguish, disease and fear cling not to them, who contemplate over the Lord Master.
Мучения, болезни и страх не цепляются к тем, которые медитируют на Господа
Мастера.
By Saints grace they cross the dreadful world-ocean and obtain what is pre-ordained for them.
По милости Святого они пересекают ужасный мир-океан и обретают то, что было для
них предопределено.
They are felicitated; their minds are pacified, and the infinite Lord meets them.
Их поздравляют; их разум успокаивается; и несметный Господь их встречает.
Supplicates Nanak, by dwelling on the Lord God, my desire is fulfilled. |4|3|

There is but one God. True is His Name and by Guru's grace He is obtained.

O peace-giving night, grow long, as I have come to enshrine love with my Beloved.
О ночь, дающая покой, продлись, ведь я нахожусь в любви моего Возлюбленного.
Be thou short, O pain-giving sleep, that I may ever clasp His feet.
А ты, О дающий боль сон, укоротись, чтобы я всегда мог держаться за Его ноги.
I long for the dust of God's feet, and ever beg for His Name, for the love of which I have renounced the world.
Я жаждую пыли ног Бога и умоляю получить Его Имя, из-за любви к которому я

Forsaking my supremely evil inclination, I have become imbued with my Beloved's love and am easily intoxicated with it.

I have met my dear Lord on the True Path. He has taken me by my arm and in His love I am saturated.

Nanak implores Thee, O Lord, extend to him this favour, that he may remain attached to Thy feet. |1|

O my friends and companions, let us remain attached to Lord's feet.

Within my mind is great love for the dear One and pray for God's devotional service.
У меня в разуме есть великая любовь к Дорогому и мольба по преданной службе
Богу.
Let us go and meet the slaves of God and meditate on the Lord. Thus shall we obtain God's devotional service.
Давайте пойдёмте и встретимся с рабами Бога, и будем медитировать на Господа. И
так, мы обретём преданную службу Богу.
Let us forsake ego, worldly attachment and sin, and dedicate to Him our body, wealth and this soul.
Давайте оставим эго, мирские привязанности и грех, и посвятим Ему свои тело,
богатство и душу.
The Lord God is great, omnipresent and full of merits, and on meeting Him the wall of doubt gets dismantled.
Господь Бог – великий, вездесущий и наполнен заслугами, и встретившись с Ним,

Supplicates Nanak, hear my counsel, O my mate and let us ever, ever repeat God's Name. |2|
Умоляет Нанак: «Услышь мой совет, О мой товарищ, и давай всегда, всегда будем

God's bride is a happy wife and she enjoys all pleasures.
Невеста Бога – счастливая жена, и она наслаждается всеми удовольствиями.
She sits not as a widow, as the Lord - her Groom, is long lived.
Она не сидит как вдова, ведь её Господь – Жених, всегда жив.
She suffers not sorrow; she meditates on her Lord, and blessed and very fortunate is she.
Она не страдает от горя; она медитирует на своего Господа, и она благословенна и
очень удачлива.
She sleeps in peace and rest, her sins are erased, and she wakes in the joy and love of the Name.
Она спит в покое и отдыхает; её грехи стираются, и она пробуждена в радости и

In Lord's love she remains absorbed, and God's Name is her ornament. The words of the darling Spouse are sweet and pleasing to her.

её дорогого Супруга для неё сладки и приносят ей удовольствие.
Implores Nanak, I have attained my heart's desire and have met God, my eternal Spouse. |3|

In that house resound songs of rejoicings and millions of pleasures,
В том доме звучат песни радости и там есть миллионы наслаждений,
Wherein in the mind and body of man is contained the Lord of supreme bliss.
В котором, и в разуме и в теле человека, содержится блаженство наивысшего
Господа.
God, my Spouse is infinite, merciful, Lord of wealth, preserver of the Universe and the Saviour of sinners.
Бог, мой Супруг, несметный и милосердный; Он – Господь благоденствия, Он хранит
Вселенною, и Он – Спаситель грешников.
The Lord God, the extender of mercy and the enemy of pride, ferries the man across the terrible and poisonous world-ocean.
Господь Бог – враг гордости, дарующий милость, перевозит человека через ужасный
и ядовитый мир-океан.
Whosoever seeks the Lord's protection, him He hugs to His bosom. This is quality of the Lord.
Кто бы ни искал защиты у Господа, того Он прижимает Себе к груди. Это является

Prays Nanak, I have found God, my Spouse, who ever indulges in dalliance with me. |4|1|4|

God's feet are the tank of Nectar, and there thou have thy abode, O my soul.

Have thou an ablution in God's Name-tank and all thy sins shall be washed off, O my soul.

Bathe thou ever in the Name of Lord, O friend, and the darkness of thy pain shall be dispelled.
Ты всегда пожалуйстя купайся в Имени Господа, о подружка, и тьма твоей боли

Birth and death shall not touch you, and the noose of death shall be cut away.
Рождения и смерть до тебя не дотронутся, а петля твоей смерти будет срезана.
Join the society of Saints, so that thou be imbued with the Name. There, thy desire shall be fulfilled.

Prays Nanak, O God, have mercy on me, that I may secure an abode at Thy Lotus Feet. |1|

There ever is bliss and merry-makings and resound there the celestial strain.

Meeting together, the holy men sing Lord's praises and hail victory to the Master.

Meeting together, the Saints sing Lord's praises, drenched in the Nectar of His love and affection, and become acceptable to their Spouse.
Встретившись вместе, Святые поют похвалы Господу; они промочены Нектаром Его
любви и нежности, и становятся приемлемыми для своего Супруга.
Effacing self-conceit, they attain God's profit and meet the Spouse long separated from them.
Уничтожив самодовольство, они получают Божью прибыль и встречаются со своим
Супругом, с которым они были долго разлучены.
The unique, inaccessible and infinite Lord showers His benediction and holding them by the arm makes them His Own.
Уникальный, недосягаемый и несметный Господь орошает их Своими благословениями

O ye, very fortunate one, hearken thou to the immortalising hymns of the Guru-God.

He, in whose destiny it is so writ, in his mind alone it deeply enters.

He alone understands this indescribable story, to whom the Lord Himself shows mercy.

He becomes immortal and dies not again, and his quarrels, disputes and distresses are dispelled.

He finds the sanctuary of the Lord; he does not forsake the Lord, and does not leave. God's love is pleasing to his mind and body.

As water blends with water, so am I united with Lord's light, like warp and woof.

The one Lord is contained in sea, land and sky, and I see not another.

He is fully pervading the woods, the grass-blades and the three worlds. His worth, I cannot tell.

O my Beloved Lord, show mercy and unite me with Thee, and through Thy kindness attach me to the hem of Thy robe.

Bless me with Thy Name, so that I may meditate on It, O Lord God. I live by seeing Thy sight.

The Lord is omnipotent, omnipresent, ever immovable, exalted, unapproachable and infinite.

Quaff thou the nectar from the Lord's ocean and utter thou the Lord Master's Name.

In the society of Saints the Lord is met, and by remembering Him, the affairs are adjusted.
В обшестве Святых мы встречаемся с Господом, и помня Его, все наши дела
налаживаются.
The Master is the accomplisher of all the works and the destroyer of anguish. O thou, in thy mind never forget Him not even for a moment.
Мастер завершает все дела и уничтожает муки. О ты, в своём разуме никогда не
забывай Его даже на мгновение.
He is ever happy and ever true, and all the merits are in the Lord of the Universe.

Inestimable, lofty and illimitable is the Lord, and unapproachable is His Home.

I forget Thee not, O God. Thou art the Beloved of my soul. My soul ever longs for Thy vision.

Auspicious is the day, when the lofty, inaccessible and infinite Lord hugs me to His bosom.

The soul is like a leaf separated from a tree of a body and unites not with it
again, and all alone, it proceeds on the way to death.

O mortal, thou shalt suffer penalty for the deeds done and shall be goaded into many existences.

Imbued with the love of Maya, the great enticer, thou shalt lose the jewel of human life.

The ungrateful person is separated from the Lord and none does mediate for him.

All hard-hearted myrmidons of death come and seize him.

They seize and lead him off for his evil deeds, as he was attached to mammon, the great enticer.

He uttered not the praise of the Lord of the Universe under Guru's instruction, so the hot iron is applied to his chest.

By lust, wrath and pride, he is ruined, and being deprived of Divine knowledge, he regrets.

Comfort, equanimity, joy and happiness always accrue from ever singing the praise of God, the World Cherisher.

Meeting the Saints society, I remember the Lord with love and so I shall not again wander in births.

The Lord has naturally hugged me to His bosom and so the seed of my eternal destiny has sprouted.

Show kindness unto me, O Purifier of defaulters. I have grown weary of wandering through many existences.

Prays Nanak, I am the slave of God and the Lord is the mainstay of my soul and life. |2|

Thou art all-powerful and great; my sense of understanding is but paltry, O Lord.

Forsaking the Name-jewel, I have amassed a shall. I am a degraded and ignorant brute.

By continually committing sins, I have amassed what is very unstable and forsakes the man.

From whom I was separated, He Himself has united me with Him.

Singing the praises of the Lord of the Universe, the ever-sublime, blissful Lord is revealed unto me.

My couch is adorned with my Lord's presence, and the Lord has made me His Own.
Моё ложе украшено присутствием Господа, и Господь сделал меня Своим Собственным.
Abandoning anxiety, I have become carefree and shall not suffer sorrow again.

The land, raiment, gold and silver, vain are all these affairs.

Children, spouse, worldly honours, elephants, horses and other pernicious paraphernalia, go not with thee.

O king, why art thou fast asleep? Why does thou not wake up to reality?
О король, почему ты крепко спишь? Почему ты не пробуждаешься к реальности?
To wail for worldly valuables is useless, but many mortals hanker after wealth.
Ожидать мирские ценности – бесполезно, но тем не менее множество смертных
страстно жаждают богатства.
So many cry out for Maya, the great enticer, but without the Name of the Lord, there is no peace.
Так многие плачут по Иллюзии – великой соблазнительнице, однако без Имени
Господа, покоя нет.
Thousands of clever tricks and efforts avail not. Whatsoever the Lord wills, thither the mortal goes.
Тысячи умных хитростей и усилий бесполезны. Чего бы Господь ни пожелал, туда
смертный и идёт.
In the beginning, in the end and the middle, the Lord is fully pervading, and contained is He in the hearts of all beings.
В начале, в конце и в середине, Господь полностью распространяется, и Он

Prays Nanak, they, who meet the Saints society, go to Lord's Mansion with honour. |2|

O king, the master of men, know that the palaces and the wise servants shall serve thee no purpose in the end.
О король, мастер людей, знай, что дворцы и мудрые слуги будут для тебя

Separate thou must from them; their love shall make thee feel sorry.
Тебе придётся с ними расстаться; их любовь тебя огорчит.
Beholding the phantom city thou art gone astray. How can thou attain stability therein?
Видя иллюзионный город, ты идёщь по неправильному пути. Как же тогда ты обретёшь
от этого стабильность?
By being absorbed in things other than the Lord's Name, the human life if lost in vain.
Будя поглощённым чем-то другим, а не Именем Господа, человеческая жизнь проходит
зря.
By indulging in excessive ego thy thirst is not quenched, nor is thy desire fulfilled, nor attainest thou the Divine knowledge.
Наслаждаясь излишним эго, твоя жажда не будет утолена, и твои желания не
исполнятся, и ты не достигнешь Небесного знания.
Supplicates Nanak, without the Name of God many have departed regretfully. |3|

Showering His benediction, the Lord has made me His Own.
Орошая Своим благословением, Господь сделал меня Своим Собственным.
Catching me by the arm, God has pulled me out of the mire and blessed me with the Saints society.
Поймав мея за руку, Бог вытянул меня из болота и благословил меня обществом
Святого.
Meditating on God, in the Saints society, all my sins and sufferings are burnt off.
Медитируя на Бога в обществе Святых, все мои грехи и страдания сожжены.
God's meditation is the highest religion and a good act of charity. That alone shall go with thee.
Божья медитация – это наивысшая религия и является хорошей милостынью. Только
это пойдёт с тобою.
My tongue utters the Name of the one Lord, and my soul and body are drenched with God's Name.
Мой язык произносит Имя единственного Господа, и мои душа и тело промочены

O Nanak, whomsoever the Lord unites with Himself, he becomes full of all the virtues. |4|6|9|

The treasure of God's praise is a gift and he alone expends and utilises it, unto whom He bestows.

O Nanak, the perverse world is without this wealth, and when hungry, what shalt it eat in the next world? |2|

All belong to Thee and Thee belong to all, O Lord. It is Thee, who has created all.

Amongst all Thou art contained and all meditate on Thee.

Thou acceptest the devotional service of him, who is pleasing to Thy mind.

Whatever pleases the Lord God, that happens. All do what Thou makest them do.

Praise thou the most exalted Lord, who ever preserves the honour of the pious persons. |1|

O Nanak, the Divine has conquered the world, but the world has conquered all others.

Through the Guru's teaching his mind is steadfast and none can shake it.

God takes the side of His devotee and honourable become his affairs.

The perverse are led astray from the very beginning. Within them are avarice, greed and ego.
Превратных, с самого начала, сбивают с пути. Внутри у них есть скупость,
жадность и эго.
Their nights and days pass in wrangling, and they reflect not on the Guru's hymns.
Их ночи и дни проходят в распрях, и они не размышляют об гимнах Гуру.
The Creator has taken away from them their good understanding, so all their speech is sinful.
Творец забрал у них хорошее понимание, и так, весь их говор порочен.
However much is given to them, they are not sated. Within them is avarice and great darkness of spiritual ignorance.
Сколько бы им не давали, они не насыщаются. Внутри у них есть скупость и великая

O Nanak, it is good to break with the perverse, to whom the love of mammon is sweet. |1|

What can fear and doubt do unto them, on whose head is the hand of the Satguru-Creator?
А что может страх и сомнение сделать тем, на головах которых находится рука
Сатгуру-Творца?
God, the Preserver, Himself preserve their honour.
Бог – Хранитель, Сам сохраняет их честь.
Reflecting over the True Name they meet with their Beloved and obtain peace.
Размышляя об Истинном Имени, они встречаются со своим Возлюбленным и обретают
покой.
O Nanak, I have served the peace giving Lord, who Himself is the Assayer. |2|
О Нанак, я служил дарующему покой Господу, который Сам является Пробующим.

All men and lower animals are Thine, and Thou art the capital of all.
Все люди и другие существа – Твои, а Ты – капитал всех.
He, whom Thou givest, obtains everything. There is no other rival of Thine.

Thou alone art the beneficent Lord of all. My prayer is to Thee, O Master.
Только Ты являешься благодетелем всех. Моя молитва для Тебя, О Мастер.
Thou acceptest the prayer of him, with whom Thou art pleased. Blessed is such a person.
Ты принимаешь молитву того, кем Ты доволен. Благословлён такой человек.
Thy wondrous play is manifest everywhere, and my weal and woe are before Thee. |2|
Твои удивидельные пьесы проявляются повсюду, и мои благоденствие и горе
находятся пред Тобою.

The Guru-wards are pleasing to the True Lord and they are adjudged true in the True Court.
Подопечные Гуру приносят удовольствие Истинному Господу, и при Истинном Дворе их
провозглашают истинными.
In the mind of such friends of God, is bliss, and they meditate on Guru's hymns.
В разуме таких друзей Бога есть блаженство, и они медитируют на гимны Гуру.
They enshrine the Name in their mind. Their pain is dispelled and the Creator blesses them with the Divine light.
Они заключают в свой разум Имя. Их боль рассеивается, и Творец благословляет их
Небесным светом.
O Nanak, blessing them with His mercy, the Saviour shall save them. |1|
О Нанак, благословляя их Своим милосердием, Спаситель их спасёт.
3rd Guru.

Wait upon and serve thou the Guru, and while toiling, abide in Lord's fear.
Прислуживай и служи ты Истинному Гуру, а пока ты работаешь, пребывай ты в боязни
Господа.
If thou walkest according to His will, then shalt thou be like him, whom thou servest.
Если ты движешься согласно Его воле, тогда ты будешь таким, какия является тот,
кому ты служишь.
O Nanak, the Lord Himself is all in all and there is no other second place to go to. |2|
О Нанак, Господь Сам находится во всех, и нет другого места куда пойти.

My Master, Thine greatness, Thou alone knowest. None else is as great as Thee.
Мой Мастер, Твоё величие Ты знаешь Сам. Нет никого другого такого великого как
Ты.
If some rival of Thine be as great as Thou, then I would name him, but as lofty as Thee, Thou alone art.
Если какой-то Твой соперник мот бы быть таким же великим как Ты, тогда я бы его
назвал, однако таким возвышенным как Ты, являешься лишь Ты.
He, who serves Thee, obtains peace. Who else can rival Thee?
Тот, кто служит Тебе, обретает покой. Кто ещё может сравниться с Тобою?
My beneficent Lord, Thou art all-powerful to make and unmake, and with joined hands all are standing before Thee to beg.
Мой благодетельный Господь, Ты всемогущ делать и разрушать, и, со сложенными
руками, все стоят пред Тобою и просят подаяния.
I see no one as great a Donor as Thou art. Thou givest alms to all the beings of all the continents, solar systems, nether lands, worlds and universes. |3|
Я не вижу никого такого великого Дарующего каким являешься Ты. Ты даёшь подаяние
всем существам со всех континентов, солнечных систем, нижних регионов, миров и
вселенных.

If, O man, thou hast not faith in the mind, embracest not love for the Lord,
Если, О человек, у тебя в разуме нет веры и ты не обнимаешь любовь к Господу,
And enjoyest not the Name's relish - what praise of the Master shalt thou sing through forcing thy mind?
И не наслаждаешься вкусом Имени, тогда какие похвалы Мастеру ты можешь петь,
заставляя свой разум?
O Nanak, his advent alone is approved, who by Guru's instruction, merges into the True Lord. |1|
О Нанак, пришествие только того одобряется, который по указанию Гуру погружается
в Истинного Господа.

The fool understands not his own self and annoys others by his speech.
Глупец не понимает самого себя и своимм словами докучает другим.
The original nature of the foolish leaves him not. Separated from God, he bears cruel blows.
Первоначальная характеристика глупца его не оставляет. Разлучённый с Богом, он
получает жестокие удары.
By True Guru's fear, he has not altered and reshaped his disposition, that he may remain merged in the Lord's lap.
Не испытывая боязни к Истинному Гуру, он не переделал и не изменил свой
характер, чтобы оставаться на коленях Господа.

Night and day his doubts never cease, and without the Lord's Name, he writhes in pain.
Ночью и днём его сомнения никогда не останавливаются, и, без Имени Господа, он
корчится от боли.
Lust, wrath and avarice are very powerful in his mind, and his life ever passes in doing worldly affairs.
Похоть, гнев и алчность – очень сильны в его разуме, и его жизнь всегда проходит
в мирских делах.
Tired are his feet, hands, eyes and ears. His days are numbered, and his death is near.
Устали его ноги, руки, глаза и уши. Его дни подсчитаны, и его смерть рядом.
The True Name appears not sweet to him, the Name by which the nine treasures are obtained.
Истинное Имя, при помощи которого мы обретаем девять сокровищ, для него не
сладкὀ.
If a man, in life is dead and so dying lives again, it is then that he attains salvation.
Если человек умирает пока он жив и, умерев таким образом, продолжает жить, тогда
он обретает спасение.
But if he is not blessed with such pre-ordained karma, then without this karma, what can he obtain?
Но если он не благословлён такой предназначенной ему кармой, тогда без такой
кармы, чего он может достичь?
O fool, meditate thou on the Guru's hymns and through Gurbani thou shalt obtain salvation and wisdom.
О глупец, ты медитируй на гимны Гуру и, благодаря Гурбани, ты обретёшь спасение
и мудрость.
O Nanak, if thou effacest thy self-conceit from within, then alone shalt thou obtain the True Guru. |2|
О Нанак, если ты сотрёшь изнутри себя своё самомнение, лишь тогда ты обретёшь
Истинного Гуру.

Why should he, within whose mind abides my Lord, feel anxiety regarding anything?
Зечем тому, в разуме которого пребывает мой Господь, беспокоиться о чём-либо?
God is the giver of the peace and the Lord of all the things. Why should we turn
our away from His meditation even for a moment and trice?
Бог является дарующим покоя и Господом всего что существует. Зачем нам
отворачиваться от Его медитации даже на один момент или на одно мгновение?
He, who remembers God, obtains all the comforts. We should daily go, sit and associate with the society of the pious persons.
Тот, кто помнит Бога, обретает все удобства. Нам следут ежедневно идти, садиться
и общаться с набожными людьми.
All woes, privations and diseases of God's slave are eradicated, and bonds of the humble beings are torn asunder.
Все печали, лишения и болезни раба Бога удаляются, и цепи скромных существ
разрываются.
By God's grace, one becomes God's devotee. Beholding the face of the Lord's
humble devotee, the whole world is saved and carried across. |4|
По милости Бога мы становимся преданными Богу. Видя лицо смиренного, преданного
Господу человека, весь мир спасается и переходит на другую сторону.

May that tongue be burnt, which has not received the relish of Lord's Name.
Пусть тот язык, который не получил вкуса Имени Господа, сгорит.
O Nanak, the tongue of him, who enshrines the Lord God in his mind, enjoys the taste of the Name. |1|
О Нанак, язык того, кто хранит в своём разуме Господа Бога, наслаждается вкусом
Имени.

Burnt be the tongue which has forgotten the Name of God.
Пусть сгорит тот язык, который забыл Имя Бога.
O Nanak, the tongue of the Gurmukh utters the Lord's Name and professes love for His Name. |2|
О Нанак, язык подопечного Гуру произносит Имя Господа и исповедует любовь к Его
Имени.

God Himself is the Lord, an attendant and a devotee. God Himself does and causes others to do.
Бог Сам – Господь, прислуга и преданный. Бог Сам делает и причиняет других
делать.
God Himself beholds and Himself rejoices. As He wills, so does He engage the mortals in their tasks.
Бог Сам всё созерцает и Сам радуется. Как Он желает, так Он и обязывает смертных
к их делам.
Some, the Lord Himself puts on the right path, and others the Lord leads astray into the wilderness.
Некоторых Господь Сам ставит на правильный путь, а других же Господь сводит с
пути в глушь.
God is the True Lord and true is His justice. He arranges and beholds all His plays.
Бог – Истинный Господь, и истинно Его правосудие. Он организовывает и созерцает
все Свои пьесы.
By Guru's grace, serf Nanak utters and sings the praise of the True Lord. |5|
По милости Гуру, крепостной Нанак произносит и поёт похвалы Истинному Господу.

How rare is the dervish, the saintly renunciate, who understands renunciation.
Как редко бывает такой дервиш, такой святой отшельник, который понимает
отречение.
Accursed is the life and accursed his garb, who wanders about begging from house to house.
Проклята жизнь и проклята одежда того, кто бродит от дома к дому, прося
милостыню.
But if he abandons hope and anxiety, and receives the Name as his alms, through the Guru,
Но если он оставляет и надежду и беспокойство, и получает, как подаяние, Имя от
Гуру,
Nanak washes his feet and is a sacrifice unto him. |1|
Нанак моет ему ноги и отдаёт себя ему в жертву.

O Nanak, the world-tree bears the fruit of love for mammon, and upon it, are perched two birds.
О Нанак, дерево мира приносит плоды любви к мамоне, а на нём сидят две птицы.
These birds have no wings and are not seen while coming and going.
У таких птиц нет крыльев и нельзя увидеть когда они приходят и уходят.
One enjoys the pleasures, while the other remains detached through the Word of the Guru.
Одна наслаждается удовольствиями, пока другая остаётся независимой от мира
благодаря Слову Гуру.
Imbued with the Nectar of the fruit of God's Name, the soul bears the true mark of God's grace, O Nanak. |2|
Пропитанная Нектаром плода Имени Божьего, душа имеет истинную метку милости
Бога, О Нанак.

The Lord Himself is the field, Himself the farmer, and Himself He grows and grinds the corn.

Himself He cooks and Himself He gives dishes, and puts food in them, and He Himself sits down to eat it.
Он Сам готовит пищу, и Сам преподносит блюда и кладёт в них пищу, и Он Сам
