Yet, if such man remembers not the Lofty Lord, he shall be taken and consigned to the hideous hell then. |7|

Man may possess body free from disease and deformity and may have no heart-burning and grief;
Человек может обладать телом свободным от болезней и уродства, и может не иметь
сердечной боли и печали;
He may not think of death, and day and night revel in pleasures;
Он может не думать о смерти, и днём и ночью наслаждаться удовольствиями;
And he may have made everything his own and entertain no mental fear;
И он может сделал всё своим собственным, и не имеет умственного страха;
If he remembers not the Lofty Lord, he shall fall in the power of Death's myrmidon. |8|
Но если он не помнит Величавого Господа, то он попадёт во власть мирмидона
Смерти.
He, on whom the Exalted Lord showers mercy, obtains the society of Saints.
Тот, кого Благородный Господь обливает милосердием, обретает общество Святых.
The more he frequents the Saints congregation, the more the love for the Lord.
Чем чаще он находится в обществе Святых, тем больше у него любви к Господу.
God Himself is the Lord of both the ends (this world and the next one). There is no other second place of rest.
Сам Бог является Господом обоих концов (этого мира и последующего). Другого
места отдыха нет.
When the True Guru is mightily pleased, O Nanak! the True Name is obtained. |9|1|26|
Когда Истинный Гуру весьма доволен, О Нанак! тогда мы обретаем Истинное Имя.

I know not what things please Thee, O Master.

The meditator practises meditation.
Медитатор заниматся медитацией.
The theologian practises theology.

But rare is the one who knows the Lord. |1|
Но редко есть такой, кто знает Господа.
The worshipper lives under discipline.
Поклонник живёт, следуя дисциплине.
The Yogi asserts that he is emancipated.
Йоги утверждает, что он освобождён.
The penitent is absorbed in penance. |2|
Кающийся поглощён раскаянием.
The man of silence observes silence.
Человек безмолвия соблюдает безмолвие.
The sokitarian is a celibate.
Сокитариан остаётся холостяком.
The stoic is imbued in dispassion. |3|
Стоик окрашен хладнокровием.
Adorer's adoration is of nine sorts.
Поклонник имеет обожание девяти сортов.
The Pandits read aloud the Vedas.
Обученные вслух читают Веды.
The householder deems his faith in the family life. |4|
Имеющий семью, имеет веру в семейную жизнь.
Those who utter only one word, those who take many forms, the naked renunciates,
Те, которые произносят только одно слово; те, которые могут появиться в том или
ином теле; голые отшельники;
The patched-coat weares, the showmen, the ones remaining awake at night,
Те, которые носят пальто в заплатках; маги; те, которые не спят ночью;
The bath-men at the places of pilgrimage, |5|
Те, которые принимают омовение в местах паломничества;
The ones going without food, and those who do not touch others,
Те, которые живут без пищи; и те, которые не дотрагиваются до других;
The ones who remain concealed and show not their sight,
Те, которые живут прячась и никому себя не показывают;
And the ones who are wise in their own mind: |6|
И те, которые в своём разуме являются мудрыми:
None calls himself deficient.
Никто не считает, что он имеет в чём-то недостаток.
Everyone says that he has obtained the Lord.
Каждый говорит, что он достиг Господа.
He is the Saint, whom God unites with Himself. |7|
Тот – Святой, кого Бог соединяет с Самим Собою.

I have abandoned and sought the Guru's sanctuary.
Я оставил и нашёл убежище у Гуру.
Nanak has fallen at the feet of the Guru. |8|2|27|

There is but one God. By the True Guru grace's He is obtained.
Есть только один Бог. По милости Истинного Гуру, Его достигают.

Thou art seen manifest in Thy workshop.
Тебя можно увидеть явным в Твоей мастерской.
Everyone longs for Thy Name.

Without the True Guru, Thou art found not. All others are enticed into the net of mammon. |3|
Без Истинного Гуру, Тебя не найти. Все остальные соблазняются и попадают в сети

I am a sacrifice unto the True Guru,

By meeting whom the supreme status is obtained.

The True Guru has caused me to understand Him, whom the angelic men and silent sages crave for. |4|

How is the society of Saints known?
Как можно узнать общество Святых?
The Name of one Lord is mentioned there.
Там упоминается Имя единственного Господа.
O Nanak, the mortal is ordered to ponder over the Name alone - this thing the True Guru has caused me to understand. |5|
О Нанак, смертному приказано размышлять лишь об Имени – Истинный Гуру причинил
меня это понять.
This world has gone astray in doubt.
Этот мир в сомнении заблудился.
Thou Thyself, O Lord! hast misled it.
Ты Сам, О Господь! свёл его с пути.
Great agony befalls the deserted brides, who possess not good fortune. |6|
Великая агония случится с покинутыми невестами, не обладающими хорошей судьбой.
What are the distinctive marks of the discarded ones?
Каковы отличительные метки брошенных?
They miss their Spouse and wander unhonoured.
Они не замечают своего Супруга и, в бесчестии, блуждают.
Dirty is the dress of those brides and they pass their night in distress. |7|
Платье таких невест – грязное, и в муках они проводят свою ночь.
What actions have the happy soul-brides performed?
А какие действия совершили счастливые души-невесты?
They have obtained the fruit of preordained writ.
Они обрели плод предназначенного указа.
By casting His merciful glance, the Lord unites them with Himself. |8|
Бросая Свой милосердный взгляд, Господь соединяет их с Самим Собою.
They, whom the Lord causes to abide by His Will,
Те, которых Господь причиняет следовать Своей Воле,
Place His Name in their hearts.
Кладут в свои сердца Его Имя.
Such mates are the true brides, who bear affection to their Spouse. |9|
Такие девушки-души, которые имеют нежность к Своему Супругу, они – истинные
невесты.
They, who feel pleasure in God's Will,
Те, которые чувствуют удовольствие в Воле Бога,
Remove superstition from within themselves.
Устраняют из себя суеверие.
O Nanak, deem that such is the True Guru, who unites all with the Lord. |10|
О Нанак, считай, что тот является Истинным Гуру, кто соединяет всех с Господом.
He receives the fruit of God's Name on meeting the True Guru,
Тот получает плод Имени Божьего, кто при встрече с Истинным Гуру,
Who drives away the ego from within himself.
Изгоняет прочь из себя своё эго.
The pain of his evil intellect is eliminated and good luck comes and alights on his brow. |11|
Боль его злобного интеллекта устраняется, и удача прибывает и опускается на его
чело.
Ambrosia is Thy Word, O Master!
Амброзия – это Твоё Слово, О Мастер!
It has permeated the mind of Thy slaves.
Оно проникло в разум Твоих рабов.
In Thine service, Thou hast placed eternal peace. By showing Thy mercy, Thou emancipatest the mortals. |12|
В Свою службу, Ты поместил вечный покой. Проявляя Своё милосердие, Ты
освобождаешь смертных.
True is known to be the meeting with the True Guru,
Истинной называют встречу с Истинным Гуру,
If by this meeting the Name of the Lord may be repeated.
Если благодаря этой встрече становится возможным повторять Имя Господа.
Without the True Guru, none has found the Lord. All have grown weary of performing religious rites. |13|
Без Истинного Гуру, никто не нашёл Господа. Все устали выполнять религиозные
обряды.
I am a sacrifice unto the True Guru,
Я отдаю себя в жертву Истинному Гуру,
Who has put me, going amiss in error, on the right path.
Который поставил меня, в ошибках заблудившегося, на правильный путь.
If the Lord casts Нis merciful glance, He unites man with Himself. |14|
Если Господь бросает Свой милосердный взгляд, то Он соединяет человека с Самим
Собою.
Thou, O Lord! art contained in all.
Ты, О Господь! содержишься во всех.
That Creator keeps Himself concealed.
Такой Творец остаётся спрятанным.
O Nanak, the Maker reveals Himself unto the Guruward, within whom He has installed His light. |15|
О Нанак, Творец раскрывает Себя подопечному Гуру, внутри которого Он поместил
Свой свет.
Giving him soul and body, the Master did create His attendant,
Дав ему душу и тело, Мастер сотворил Своего служащего,
And Himself blessed him with honour.
И Сам благословил его честью.
He Himself preserves the honour of His servants; He places both His Hands upon their foreheads. |16|
Он Сам сохраняет честь Своих слуг; Он кладёт обе Свои Руки им на лоб.
All the contrivances and clevernesses avail not.
Все уловки и ухищрения бесполезны.
My Master knows everything.
Мой Мастер знает всё.
He has made His glory manifest, and all people celebrate Him. |17|
Он сделал Свою славу явной, и все люди прославляют Его.
The Lord minded not my merits and demerits.
Для Господа не были важными мои достоинства и недостатки.
The Master has honoured his creed of protecting His slave.
Мастер почтил его веру в то, что Он защитит Своего раба.
By embracing me to Нis bosom, the Lord has preserved me and now even the hot wind brushes me not. |18|
Прижав меня к Своей груди, Господь меня предохраняет, и теперь даже знойный
ветер до меня не дотрагивается.
With my soul and body I have reflected over the Lord.
Душой и телом я размышлял о Господе.
I have obtained the fruit my mind desired.
Я обрёл плод, желанный моим разумом.
Thou art the Lord over the head of kings and emperors. Nanak lives by repeating Thy Name. |19|

Thou Thyself hast created the Universe;
Ты Сам сотворил Вселенную;
And setting afoot the play of duality hast exhibited it.
И пустив в движение пьесу двойственности, её показываешь.
The Truest of the True is pervading everywhere. He instructs him, whom He is pleased with. |20|
Самый Истинный из Истинных распространяется повсюду. Он обучает того, кем Он
доволен.
By Guru's grace, I have obtained God.
По милости Гуру, я достиг Бога.
Because of that I have shed the love of worldly valuables.
Благодаря этому я выбросил свою любовь к мирским ценностям.
By showing His mercy, He has blended me with His Own Self. |21|
Показав Свою милость, Он слил меня с Самим Собою.
Thou art the milk-maid, the Jamma river and Krishna, the Herdsman.
Ты – доярка, река Ямма и Пастух Кришна.
Thou Thyself hast sustained the earth.
Ты Сам поддерживаешь мир.
By Thy order are fashioned the human vessels, and Thou Thyself embellishest and breakest them. |22|
По Твоему распределению придают очертания человеческим сосудам, и Ты Сам их
украшаешь и ломаешь.
They, who have fixed their mind with the True Guru,
Те, которые зафиксировали свой разум на Истинном Гуру,
They have purged themselves of worldly love.
Очистили себя от мирской любви.
Immaculate is the light of such mortals. They depart after setting aright their life's mission. |23|
Свет таких смертных – чистый. Они уходят после того, как они привели в порядок
миссию своей жизни.
Thine excellences, I forever
Твоими превосходствами, я всегда
Admire, by night and day.
Любуюсь, и днём и ночью.
Thou givest Thine gifts unasked. Says Nanak: O man! Do thou reflect over the True Lord. |24|1|

I fall at Lord's feet to conciliate Him.

The Lord of the Universe is my Beloved.

He is sweeter than the mother and father.

By Thine order the month of Sawan has come.
По Твоему распределению пришёл месяц Саван.
I have hooked the plough of Truth.
Я прицепил плуг Истины.
I begin to sow the Name in this hope that God, by His beneficence, will cause to yield heaps of corn. |2|
Я начинаю сеять Имя с такой надеждой, что Бог, по Своей благодетели, причинит
сбор множества кукурузы.
Having met the Guru, I recognise but one Lord.
Встретившись с Гуру, я опознаю только одного Господа.
Within my mind I know not of any other account.
В своём разуме я не имею никакого другого соображения.
God has assigned to me the one task. As it pleases Him, so do I perform it. |3|
Бог назначил мне одну обязанность. Как Ему захочется, так я и делаю.
O my brethren! You eat and enjoy yourselves.
О мои братья! Вы кушаете и наслаждаетесь.
In God's Court, the Guru has invested me with a robe of honour.
При Дворе Бога, Гуру пожаловал мне мантию чести.
I have become the Master of the village, and I have taken prisoner its five rivals. |4|
Я стал Мастером деревни и взял в плен её пять соперников.
I have entered Thine sanctuary, O Lord!
Я вошёл в Твоё святилище, О Господь!
The five cultivators have become my tenants.
Пять земледельцев стали моими съёмщиками.
None can dare raise his head now against me. O Nanak! the village is thickly populated, therefore. |5|

Sacrifice, O sacrifice I am unto Thee, O my Lord!

Continually, without a break, on Thee I meditate.

Thou hast re-populated the village in ruins. Unto Thee, O my Master! I am a sacrifice. |6|

My Beloved God! Thee I ever meditate on,

And obtain the boons which my mind desires.

Thou hast arranged all mine affairs and appeased the hunger of my soul. |7|
Ты привёл в порядок все мои дела и утолил голод моей души.
I have abandoned all mine avocations.
Я оставил все свои занатия.
I serve the True Lord of the Universe.
Я служу Истинному Господу Вселенной.
I have firmly tied to my robe His Name, the home of nine treasures. |8|
Я крепко прикрепил к своей мантии Его Имя – дом девяти сокровищ.
I have obtained the comfort of comforts.
Я обрёл утешение утешений.
Within my mind the Guru has implanted Master's Name.
В моём разуме Гуру укоренил Имя Мастера.
Placing His hand on my brow, the True Guru has shown me my Spouse. |9|
Положив Свою руку мне на чело, Истинный Гуру показал мне моего Супруга.
I have founded the temple of truthfulness.
Я основал храм праведности.
I have searched for and brought into it the disciples of the Guru.
Я искал и привёл в него последователей Гуру.
I wash their feet, wave fan over them, and bowing low, fall at their feet. |10|
Я мою им ноги, обмахиваю их веером, и низко кланяясь, падаю к их ногам.

Having heard words regarding Him, I went to the Guru.
Услыхав рассказы о Нём, я пошёл к Гуру.
He impressed upon me the goodness of the Name, charity and ablution.
Он запечатлел во мне добродетель Имени, благотворительность и очищение.
Having embarked on the True boat, O Nanak! the whole world is saved. |11|
Садясь в Истинное судно, О Нанак! весь мир спасается.
The entire Universe waits on Thee, day and night.
Вся Вселенная, днём и ночью, служит Тебе.
Lend Thy ear and hear my supplication, O Lord!
Вслушайся и услышь мою мольбу, О Господь!
I have thoroughly tested and seen all; Thou alone, by Thine pleasure, deliverest men. |12|
Я тщательно испробовал и повидал всё; лишь Ты, по Своему желанию, освобождаешь
людей.
The merciful Master has now given the command.
Милосердный Мастер ныне издал приказ.
No one now chases and annoys another.
Теперь никто за другим не гоняется и другого не беспокоит.
All abide in peace, and this now has become a benign regime. |13|
Все пребывают в покое, и это теперь стало благотворным режимом.
Nectar falls very softly.
Нектар падает очень мягко.
I speak as the Master causes me to speak.
Я говорю так, как Мастер причиняет меня говорить.
On Thee, I take great pride, O Lord! Do Thou, of Thine pleasure, accept me. |14|
Тобою, О Господь! я сильно горжусь. Пожалуйста, как Тебе угодно, прими меня.
Thine devotes are ever hungry for Thee.
Твои поклонники очень голодны по Тебе.
O God! Fulfil my desires.
О Бог! Исполни мои желания.
O Giver of peace! Grant me a sight of Thee and take me into Thine embrace. |15|
О Дарующий покоя! Пожалуй мне увидеть Тебя и возьми меня в Свои объятия.
I have found none as great as Thee.
Я не нашёл никого такого великого, как Ты.
Thou art contained in the earth, firmament and under-worlds.
Ты содержишься в земле, в небесных сводах и в низших мирах.
Thou art permeating all the places and interspaces. Nanak: Thou art the True support of Thine devotees. |16|
Ты распространяешься через все места и промежутки. Нанак: «Ты являешься Истинной
поддержкой Тебе преданных».
I am the petty wrestler of the World Lord.
Я – маловажный борец Господа Мира.
Having met the Guru, I have put on a tall plumed turban.
Встретившись с Гуру, я надел высокий, украшенный тюрбан.
All the assemblage to witness wrestling is gathered, and the merciful Master Himself is seated to behold it. |17|
Все желающие засвидетельствовать борьбу, собрались, и милосердный Мастер, Сам
сидит, чтобы её созерцать.
The bugles, drums and trumpets play.
Играют горны, барабаны и трубы.
The wrestlers enter the arena and take gyrations round it.
Борцы входят на арену и по ней кружат.
I have floored the five youths (deadly sins) and the Guru has patted me on my back. |18|
Я свалил с ног пятерых молодцов (смертельных грехов), и Гуру похлопал меня по
спине.
All come together in a body.
Все в теле пришли вместе.
They shall return home through different routes.
Они, по разным дорогам, вернутся домой.
The Guru-wards reap profit and leave, while the mind-wards lose even their capital and depart. |19|
Находящиеся под опёкой Гуру, пожинают прибыль и уходят; находящиеся же под
опёкой разума, теряют даже свой капитал и уходят.
Thou art sans colours and marks.
Ты – без цветовых оттенков и пометок.
God is apparently seen to be present.
Бога можно ясно увидеть присутствующим.
O Treasure of Excellences! Thine Saints continually hear Thine praises, meditate on Thee and are imbued with Thee. |20|
О Сокровище Превосходств! Твои Святые непрестанно слышат похвалы Тебе,
медитируют на Тебя и пропитаны Тобою.
In every age I am the maid-servant of God.
В каждом веке я – прислуга Бога.
The Guru has cut my fetters.
Гуру разрезал мои кандалы.
I shall not again dance in the wrestling arena. Nanak has searched and found this opportunity. |21|2|29|
Я больше не буду танцевать на арене для борьбы. Нанак искал и нашёл эту
возможность.
There is but one God. By the True Guru's grace, He is obtained.
Есть только один Бог. По милости Истинного Гуру, Его достигают.

In the first watch of night, O my merchant friend! by Lord's order, thou were cast into the womb.
В первой смене ночи, О мой друг-коммерсант! по предписанию Господа, тебя бросили
в матку.
With body reversed, thou performed penance within and prayed to thy Master, O my merchant friend!
В перевёрнутом теле, ты раскаивался и молился своему Мастеру, О мой
друг-коммерсант!
Upside down thou said prayers unto the Lord with fixed attention and affection.
Кверх ногами, с зафиксированным вниманием и нежностью, ты молился Господу.
Thou came against manner (naked) in the dark-age and again shall depart naked.
Ты пришёл нагим в этот мрачный век и опять уйдёшь нагим.
Such cargo shall be with the mortal, as God's pen has recorded on his brow.
Такой груз будет у смертного, какой был записан на его челе Божьим пером.
O Nanak, in the first watch, soul descends into the womb, by Lord's will. |1|
О Нанак, в первой смене, по воле Господа, душа опускается в матку.

In the second watch of the night, O merchant friend! man forgets Lords meditation.
Во второй смене ночи, О друг-коммерсант! человек забывает медитацию Господа.
From hand to hand he is handled about like Krishan in the house of Yashodha, O merchant friend!
Его передают из рук в руки, как Кришану в доме Яшоды, О друг-коммерсант!
In arms the mortal is tossed about and the mother says: "This is my son".
Смертного на руках качают, а мама говорит: «Это мой сын».
O my thoughtless and stupid mind! think of God. At the last moment nothing shall be thine.
О мой безрассудный и глупый разум! думай о Боге! В последний момент ничто не
будет твоим.
Thou knowest not Him, who created the Creation. Now gather thou wisdom within thy heart.
Ты не знаешь Того, кто сотворил Творение. Теперь, внутри своего сердца, копи
мудрость.
Says Nanak: In the second watch, the mortal grows forgetful of Lord's meditation. |2|
Говорит Нанак: «Во второй смене, смертный забывает медитацию Господа».
In the third watch of the night, O merchant friend! man's thoughs are fixed with a woman and youth.
В третьей смене ночи, О друг-коммерсант! мысли человека зафиксированы на женщине
и молодости.
O merchant friend! He contemplates not over God's Name through which he can be delivered of his bondage.
О друг-коммерсант! Он не задумывается об Имени Божьем, благодаря которому он
может освободиться от своего рабства.
The mortal remembers not God's Name and has become perplexed with the worldly valuables.
Смертный не помнит Имя Божие и ошеломлён мирскими ценностями.
He is imbued with wife's love and is intoxicated with his youth. Thus he wastes his life in vain.
Он насыщен любовью жены и опьянён своей молодостью. И так, он напрасно тратит
свою жизнь.
With virtue he has no trade, and good actions he has not made his friends.
С добродетелью он не торгует, и он не сделал хорошие действия своими друзьями.
Says Nanak: In the third watch, man's mind is attached to wealth and youth. |3|
Говорит Нанак: «В третьей смене, разум человека прикреплён к богатству и
молодости».
In the fourth watch of the night, O my merchant friend! the reaper comes to the field.
В четвёртой смене ночи, О мой друг-коммерсант! жнец приходит в поле.
When Death's myrmidon seizes and dispatches him, O my merchant friend! no one comes to know the mystery.
Когда мирмидон Смерти его хватает и отсюда отправляет, О мой друг-коммерсант!
тогда никто не может познать эту тайну.
This secret, when Death's minister is to capture and take away the mortal, has been given to none. So think of God, O man!
Этот секрет – то время, когда посланник Смерти должен схватить и забрать
смертного, никому не дают. Так думай же о Боге, О человек!
False is the lamentation around him. In a moment the mortal becomes an alien.
Ложен плач вокруг него. В мгновение смертный становится чужым.
He obtains just the thing with which he has enshrined affection.
Он получает лишь то, к чему он лелеет нежность.
Says Nanak: In the fourthly watch, O mortal! the reap-man has reaped the field. |4|1|
Говорит Нанак: «В четвёртой смене, О смертный! жнец собрал в поле урожай».

The baby quaffs milk and is fondled, O my merchant friend! The mother and father love their child.
Младенец большими глотками пьёт молоко, и его ласкают, О мой друг-коммерсант!

The mother and father greatly love their son. Everyone is engrossed in mammon's attachment.
Мама и папа сильно любят своего сына. Каждый всепоглощён привязанностью к
мамоне.
By virtue of good fortune and deeds done in the past, the mortal has come in
this world and is now doing deeds for his future mode of life.
По добродетели хорошей судьбы и поступков, совершённых в прошлом, смертный
приходит в этот мир, а сейчас он совершает поступки для своего будущего образа
жизни.
Without the Name of pervading God, the world is not emancipated and is drowned because of the love of duality.
Без Имени всепроникающего Бога, мир не может освободиться, и, из-за любви к
двойственности, он тонет.
Says Nanak: O mortal! in the first watch of the night, thou shalt be released by remembering God. |1|
Говорит Нанак: «О смертный! в первой смене ночи, ты будешь освобождён помня
Бога».
In the second watch of night, O my merchant friend! the mortal is intoxicated with the wine of the heyday of youth.
Во второй смене ночи, О мой друг-коммерсант! смертный опьянён вином зенита
юности.
Day and night he is engrossed in lust, O merchant friend! and God's Name is not in the mind of the blind man.
Днём и ночью он захвачен похотью, О друг-коммерсант! а Имени Божьего, в разуме
слепого человека, нет.
The Name of the omnipresent Lord is not in his heart, and he deems other relishes of various types to be sweet.
В его сердце нет Имени вездесущего Господа, и он думает о других вкусах
всевозможного сорта сластей.
The false man possesses not Divine knowledge, meditation, virtue and abstinence from sins, and shall go round in births and deaths.
Ложный человек не обладает Божественным знанием, медитацией, добродетелью и
воздержанностью от грехов, и он пойдёт по кругу рождения и смерти.
The pilgrimage to shrines, fasting, cleanliness and self-mortification are not
of any avail, nor are the rituals, religious ceremonies and hollow adorations.
Паломничество к алтарям, посты, чистота и само-умерщвление – совсем бесполезны,
как и ритуалы, религиозные обряды и пустые поклонения.
Deliverance, O Nanak! is in the devotional service of God. Through duality, the mortal is engrossed in worldliness. |2|

смертный поглощён всем мирским.
In the third watch of the night, O my merchant friend! the white swans (hair) come and land on the pool of head.
В третьей смене ночи, О мой друг-коммерсант! белые лебеди (волосы) прилетают и
садятся на бассейн головы.
The youth wears out, old age wins and, with the passing of days, the age continues diminishing, O my merchant friend.
Молодость снашивается, старость выигрывает и как проходят дни, так и твой век
продолжает уменьшаться, О мой друг-коммерсант.

O blind man! Thou shalt repent at the last moment, when the Death's minister seizes and goads thee on.
О слепой человек! В последний момент, когда посланник Смерти тебя схватит и
будет колотить бодилом, ты будешь раскаиваться.
Deeming his own, man keeps everything to himself, but in a moment it becomes alien.
Считая это своим собственным, человек всё хранит для себя, но в мгновение оно
становится чуждым.
His intellect has left and his wisdom has departed. He shall repent for the evil deeds committed.
Интеллект его покидает, и мудрость уходит. Он будет раскаиваться за злобные
поступки, которые он совершил.
Says Nanak: O mortal! in the third watch, lovingly meditate on the Lord. |3|

In the fourth watch of the night, O my merchant friend! man's body grows old and weak.

His eyes go blind and see not, and his ears hear not the words, O my merchant friend!
Его глаза слепнут, и он не видит, а его уши слов не слышат, О мой
друг-коммерсант!
With blinded eyes and tongue imperceptible to taste he lives by others prop.
Со слепыми глазами и с языком, не воспринимающим вкуса, он живёт благодаря
поддержке других.
How can he, who has no virtue within, obtain peace? An apostate comes and goes.
Как может тот, кто не имеет внутри благодетели, обрести покой? Отступник
приходит и уходит.
When the body-crop matures, it bends, breaks and perished. Why take pride on this body, which is subject to coming and going?
Когда тело-урожай становится спелым, оно сгибается, ломается и гибнет. Зачем же
гордиться этим телом, которое является предметом прихода и ухода?
Says Nanak: In the fourth watch, O mortal! under Guru's instruction, recognise God's Name. |4|
Говорит Нанак: «В четвёртой смене, О смертный! под руководством Гуру, познай Имя

The end of thy breaths comes, O my merchant friend! and thy shoulders are weighed down by the tyrant old age.
Подходит конец твоим вдохам и выдохам, О мой друг-коммерсант! и твои плечи несут
тяжесть тирана старости.
Not even an iota of goodness comes into thee, and bound down by evil shall be driven alone, O merchant friend!
В тебя не входит даже ни йота доброты и, связанный злом, ты так и будешь
продолжать, О друг-коммерсант!
He, who departs with virtue, sustains not a stroke, and his coming and going cease.
Тот же, кто уходит с добродетелью, не получит и удара, и его приходы и уходы
закончатся.
Death's tarp and myrmidon cannot touch him, and through love and devotion he crosses the ocean of fear.

He goes with honour, is absorbed in the supreme bliss, and all his agonies depart.

He meditates on God, utters His name and on the Name of Lord God he reflects upon, O merchant friend!
Он медитирует на Бога, произносит Его Имя, и об Имени Господа Бога он
размышляет, О друг-коммерсант!
Lord God's Name he repeats and ponders on, and in the womb fire he sustains life by thinking of God.
Он повторяет и размышляет об Имени Господа Бога, и, в огне матки, он
поддерживает жизнь тем, что думает о Боге.
He emerges out and is born. The father and mother become delighted to see his face.
Он выходит наружу и рождается. Отец и мать, увидав его лицо, приходят в восторг.
Remember Him, O mortal! to whom the child belongs. By Guru's grace, embrace God's meditation in thy heart.
Помни Того, О смертный! кому ребёнок принадлежит. По милости Гуру, обними в
своём сердце Божью медитацию.
Says Nanak: In the first watch, meditate on God, and He will take pity on thee, O man! |1|
Говорит Нанак: «В первой смене, медитируй на Бога, и Он над тобою сжалится, О

In the second watch of the night, O merchant friend! the mind is fixed on the duality.
Во второй смене ночи, О друг-коммерсант! разум зафиксирован на двойственности.
Saying: "He is mine, he is mine", he is brought up. The mother and father hug the child to their bosom.
Говоря: «Он мой, он мой», его воспитывают. Мать и отец прижимают ребёнка к своей
груди.
The mother and father ever hug him to their bosom. In their mind they know that he will earn and support them.
Мама и папа всегда прижимают ребёнка к своей груди. В своём разуме они знают,
что он будет зарабатывать и их поддерживать.
The fool knows not Him who gives, and clings to what is given.
Глупец не знает Того, кто даёт, и цепляется за то, что ему дают.
Rare is the person who, through the Guru, embraces meditation and fixing his heart and love on God, remembers Him.
Редко бывает такой человек, который благодаря Гуру обнимает медитацию и,
зафиксировав своё сердце и любовь на Боге, Его помнит.
Says Nanak: In the second watch, O mortal! him the death never devours. |2|
Говорит Нанак: «Во второй смене, О смертный! смерть никогда не поглотит такого».
In the third watch of the night, O my merchant friend! man's mind is occupied in the household entanglements.
В третьей смене ночи, О мой друг-коммерсант! разум человека занят домашними
заботами.
He thinks of wealth and gathers wealth, O my merchant friend! but contemplates not over God's Name and God.
Он думает о богатстве и собирает богатство, О мой друг-коммерсант! но он не
размышляет об Имени Божьем и о Боге.
He never remembers God's Name and the Lord Master, who is to be his Helper in the end.

This wealth, property and mammon are false. In the end leaving these, the mortal departs in sorrow.
Это богатство, собственность и мамона – фальшивы. В конце, оставляя всё это,

They, whom the Lord mercifully unites with the Guru, repeat the Name of Lord God.
Те, которых Господь милосердно соединяет с Гуру, повторяют Имя Господа Бога.
Says Nanak: In the third watch, O mortal! those persons go and unite with the Lord. |3|
Говорит Нанак: «В третьей смене, О смертный! такие люди идут и соединяются с
Господом».
In the fourth watch of the night, O merchant friend! God brings about the time of departure.
В четвёртой смене ночи, О друг-коммерсант! Бог устраивает время для его ухода.
With thy hands serve the perfect True Guru, O my merchant friend! Thy whole life-night is passing away.
При помощи своих рук служи совершенному, Истинному Гуру, О мой друг-коммерсант!
Вся твоя жизнь-ночь проходит.
Serve thou thy God every moment, and never make a delay, where by thou shalt become eternal through all the ages.
Да служи же своему Богу каждое мгновение, никогда не задерживайся, благодаря
этому ты станешь вечным во все века.
With God ever enjoy revelments and do away with the pain of birth and death.
Вместе с Богом ты всегда наслаждайся и покончи с болью рождения и смерти.
Know thou no difference between the Exalted Satguru and the Lord, by meeting
whom, Lord's devotional service is endeared to man.
Знай же, что нет разницы между Господом и Высокопоставленным Сатгуру, встретив
которого, для человека становится милым преданное служение Господу.
Says Nanak: In the fourth watch, O mortal! fruitful is the life-night of God's slaves. |4|1|3|
Говорит Нанак: «В четвёртой смене, О смертный! жизнь-ночь рабов Бога –

In the first watch of the night, O my merchant friend! God placed the soul in the belly.
В первой смене ночи, О мой друг-коммерсант! Бог поместил душу в живот.
In the tenth month it was made a human being and was given appointed time to practise virtuous deeds.
В десятом месяце родился человек, и ему было дано определённое время для
выполнения добродетельных поступков.
He was allowed respite to do meritorious deeds, as was the primal writ for him.
Ему была разрешена отсрочка для того, чтобы совершать похвальные поступки
соответственно главному для него указу.
The mother, father, brother, son and wife - amongst them the Lord united him.
Мать, отец, брат, сын и жена – с ними Господь его соединил.
God Himself causes mortal to do evil deeds and good ones. In the power of this being lies nothing.
Сам Бог причиняет смертного совершать злобные и хорошие поступки. Во власти
этого существа нет ничего.
Says Nanak: In the first watch, O mortal! God cast him in the belly. |1|
Говорит Нанак: «В первой смене, О смертный! Бог бросил его в живот».
In the second watch of the night, O my merchant friend! mortal's full-blooded youth is violently waving.
Во второй смене ночи, О мой друг-коммерсант! полнокровная молодость смертного
неистово бушует.
Being intoxicated with pride, O my merchant friend! the man distinguishes not between good and bad.
Опьянённый гордостью, О мой друг-коммерсант! человек не различает, что хорошо, а
что плохо.
The mortal distinguishes not between good and bad, and the way ahead is arduous.
Смертный не различает между хорошим и плохим, и тяжко его продвижение вперёд.
He did never serve the perfect True Guru, and over his head stands tyrant death.
Он никогда не служил совершенному, Истинному Гуру, и над его головой стоит тиран
смерти.
When the Righteous Judge shall seize and question thee, O demented person, what answer shalt thou, then, give him?
Когда Справедливый Судья тебя схватит и будет расспрашивать, О безумный человек,
какой же ответ ты ему тогда дашь?
Says Nanak: In the second watch, the full-bloom youth-storm tosses the mortal. |2|
Говорит Нанак: «Во второй смене, полностью цветущая молодость-шторм качает
смертного».
In the third watch of the night, O my merchant friend! the blind, ignorant fellow amasses poison.
В третьей смене ночи, О мой друг-коммерсант! слепой, невежественный товарищ
собирает яд.
He is entangled in the love of his sons and wife, O my merchant friend! and in his heart rage the currents of avarice.
Он запутывается в любви своих сыновей и жены, О мой друг-коммерсант! и в его
сердце бушуют потоки алчности.
Within his mind are the waves of greed, and that Lord, the mortal remembers not.
В его разуме находятся волны жадности, а Господа, смертный не вспоминает.
He associates not with the Saints congregation and suffers pain in many existences.
Он не общается со Святым и страдает от боли в многочисленных перевоплощениях.
He has forgotten the Creator Lord and fixes not his attention on Him even for a moment.
Он забыл Творца Господа и даже на мгновение не сосредотачивает своё внимание на
Нём.
Says Nanak: In the third watch, the blind and ignorant mortal amasses poison. |3|
Говорит Нанак: «В третьей смене, слепой и невежественный смертный копит яд».
In the fourth watch of the night, O merchant friend! that day of death is approaching near.
В четвёртой смене ночи, О мой друг-коммерсант! этот день смерти приближается.
Through the Guru, remember thou the Name of God, O my merchant friend! and It shall be thy friend in Lord's Court.
Благодаря Гуру, помни же Имя Божие, О мой друг-коммерсант! и Оно будет твоим
другом при Дворе Господа.
By Guru's instruction, O mortal! think of the Name and It shall be thy succourer in the end.
По указанию Гуру, О смертный! думай об Имени, и при конце, Оно будет твоим
помощником.

This attachment with mammon shall not go with thee. False is to embrace affection for it.
Эта привязанность к мамоне с тобой не пойдёт. Ложны объятия нежности к ней.
The entire night of your life has passed away in darkness; but by serving the True Guru, the Divine light shall dawn within.
Вся ночь твоей жизни прошла во тьме; однако выполняя службу Истинному Гуру,
внутри тебя забрезжит Небесный свет.
Says Nanak: In the fourth watch, that day - thy death, O mortal! dawn on thee. |4|
Говорит Нанак: «В четвёртой смене, этот день – твоя смерть, О смертный! придёт к
тебе».
On the receiving of the warrant of Lord of the Universe, O my merchant friend!
the man gets up and departs with the deeds committed.
Получив уполномочение от Господа Вселенной, О мой друг-коммерсант! человек,
вместе с совершёнными им поступками, поднимается и уходит.
They allow not a moment's delay, O merchants friend! They seize the mortal with firm hands.
Они не разрешают и мгновения отсрочки, О друг-коммерсант! Они хватают смертного
крепкой хваткой.
On the receipt of the written order, the beings are seized and dispatched. Ever distressed are the perverse persons.
По получению письменного приказа, их хватают и отправляют. Неизменно бедствуют
превратные люди.
In Lord's Court ever comfortable are they, who serve the perfect True Guru.
При Дворе Господа всегда спокойны те, которые служат совершенному, Истинному
Гуру.
The body is the field of actions in this age. Whatever one sows, that he eats.
Тело – это поле действий в этом веке. Что бы человек ни сеял, то он и кушает.
Says Nanak: The devotees look beautiful in Lord's Court, while the self-willed ever wander in transmigration. |5|1|4|
Говорит Нанак: «Преданные Богу, при Дворе Господа, выглядят прекрасно, в то
время как своевольные всегда скитаются в перевоплощениях».

Шри Раг, Четвёртый Гуру.
There is but God. By the True Guru's favour He is attained.
Есть только один Бог. По благосклонности Истинного Гуру, Его достигают.
How can the silly bride behold God's sight in her father's home (in this world)?
Как может глупая невеста увидать Бога в доме своего отца (в этом мире)?
When the Lord Master shows His mercy, the Guruward bride learns the affairs of her Spouse's home.
Когда Господь Мастер проявляет Своё милосердие, тогда находящаяся под опёкой
Гуру невеста, познаёт что происходит в доме её Супруга.
The pious wife learns the affairs of her Spouse's home and ever meditates on her Lord God.
Благочестивая жена изучает дела дома своего Супруга и всегда медитирует на
своего Господа Бога.
She shall then walk happy among her mates and in God's Court shall swing her arms joyfully.
Затем она будет счастливо гулять посреди своих подружек и, при Дворе Бога,
счастливо взмахнёт руками.
By repeating the Name of Lord God, she strikes off the balance of the account of the Righteous Judge.
Повторяя Имя Господа Бога, она сбивает прочь с весов остаток счёта Справедливого
Судьи.
The simple wife beholds the sight of God in her father's home through the Guru. |1|
Невинная жена, через Гуру, созерцает Бога в доме своего отца.
My marriage is performed, O my father! By Guru's instruction, I have obtained God.
Мой брак свершился, О мой отец! Благодаря обучению Гуру, я обрёл Бога.
The darkness of my ignorance is removed. The Guru has blazed the very bright light of Divine knowledge.
Тьма моего невежества исчезла. Гуру зажёг самый яркий свет Божественного знания.
The Guru-given Divine knowledge is shedding lustre; I have therefore found the priceless gem of God's Name.
Божественное знание, которое даёт Гуру, проливает блеск; и я, благодаря этому,
нашёл бесценную драгоценность Имени Божьего.
My malady or ego has departed, and my anguish is over. Under Guru's instruction I myself have eaten up my self-conceit.
Моя болезнь или эго – умерла, и мои страдания закончились. Под руководством Гуру
я сам съел своё самомнение.
I have obtained God of immortal form, as my Spouse. He is imperishable and, so, dies or goes not.
Бог, бессмертных очертаний, стал моим Супругом. Он – нетленный и, такам образом,
не умирает и не уходит.
The marriage has been solemnised, O my father! and by Guru's instruction, I have found God. |2|
Мы отпразновали брак, О мой отец! и благодаря обучению Гуру, я нашёл Бога.
The Truest of the True is my Lord, O my father! By meeting God's slaves, the marriage procession looks beautiful.
Истинный из Истинных – это мой Господь, О мой отец! Встретив рабов Бога, брачная
процессия выгладит прекрасно.
She, who meditates on God, shall be happy in this world, and in the next one shall look extremely beauteous.
Та, которая медитирует на Бога, будет счастлива в этом мире, и в последующем она
будет чрезвычайно прекрасна.
In the world to come, she shall be very beautiful, who in this world has remembered the Name.
В последующем мире, та, которая в этом мире помнила Имя, будет очень красива.
Profitable are the entire lives of those, who by Guru's teaching have conquered their minds by throwing the dice of the Name.
Прибыльна вся жизнь тех, которые по обучению Гуру, бросив игральные кости Имени,
покорили свой разум.
By meeting the saintly persons of God, my affair has prospered, and I have obtained the jovial Lord as my Husband.
Встретившись со святыми людьми Бога, моё дело процветает, и я обрёл весёлого
Господа как своего Мужа.
True, True is God, O my father! Accompanied by God's slaves the marriage party gets embellished. |3|
Истинный, Бог – Истинный, О мой отец! Сопровождаемая Божьими рабами, брачная
процессия становится украшенной.
O my father! Give me the Name of Lord, as a gift and dowry.
О мой отец! Дай мне Имя Господа как подарок и приданое.

Grant me God as my raiment, and God as my glory, wherewith my task may be accomplished.
Пожалуй мне Бога, как моё одеяние, и Бога, как мою славу, благодаря чему я смогу
выполнить своё задание.
Through devotion to Lord God, the marriage is rendered pleasant. The great True Guru has given me the gift of God's Name.
Через преданность Господу Богу, брак будет приятным. Великий, Истинный Гуру дал
мне подарок Имени Божьего.
Across the continents and throughout the Universe, the Lord's glory is pervading. This gift is not diminished by being diffused among all.
Через континенты и через всю Вселенную распространяется слава Господа. Этот
подарок не уменьшается от того, что он рассеивается среди всех.
Any other dowry which the perverse place for show, that is false pride and worthless gilding.
Любое другое приданое, которое превратные кладут ради зрелища – это ложная
гордость и ничего не стоящая позолота.
O my father! Give me the Name of Lord God, as a gift and dowry. |4|
О мой отец! Дай мне Имя Господа Бога, как подарок и приданое.
The Lord, Raam, Raam, is all-pervading, O my father! Meeting her Husband Lord,
the soul-bride blossoms forth like the flourishing vine.
Господь, Раам, Раам – всепроникающий, О мой отец! Встретив своего Мужа-Господа,
душа-невеста рассцветает как цветущая лиана.
The faith and sect of those united with God-Guru, is forever set going
throughout the two and two ages, rather all the ages.
Вера и секта тех, которые соединены с Богом-Гуру, остаётся навсегда: в
продолжение двух и двух веков, вернее через все века.
All the ages through shall run the True Guru's religious lineage, which under Guru's instruction, remembers the Name.
Через все века будет продолжаться религиозное поколение Истинного Гуру – то
поколение, которое под руководством Гуру, помнит Имя.
Almighty God never dies or goes. What He gives ever continues increasing.
Всемогущий Бог никогда не умирает, или не уходит. То, что Он даёт, всегда
продолжает увеличиваться.
O Nanak, the one Lord is the Saint of Saints. By repeating Lord God's Name, the bride is adorned.
О Нанак, один Господь – Святой Святых. Повторяя Имя Господа Бога, невеста Им
украшена.
The Lord, Raam, Raam, is all-pervading, O my father! Meeting her Husband Lord,
the soul-bride blossoms forth like the flourishing vine.
Господь, Раам, Раам – всепроникающий, О мой отец! Встретив своего Мужа-Господа,
душа-невеста рассцветает как цветущая лиана.
Sri Rag, Fifth Guru.
Шри Раг, Пятый Гуру.
There is but one God. By the True Guru's favour He is obtained.
Есть только один Бог. По благосклонности Истинного Гуру, Его достигают.
O my dear friendly soul! Do thou meditate on the Name of the Lord of the Universe.
О моя дорогая, дружелюбная душа! Так медитируй же на Имя Господа Вселенной.
O soul! My sweet friend, God shall stand by thee.
О душа! Моя милая подружка, Бог тебя не оставит.
Ponder over God's Name. He shall be an ever-present Helper of thine. From God's door none returns empty-handed.
Размышляй об Имени Божием. Оно будет твоим всегда-присутствующим Помощником. От
двери Бога никто не возвращается с пустыми руками.
Thou shalt obtain the fruits desired by thy heart by fixing thy mind on Lord's lotus feet.
Ты обретёшь плоды, желанные твоим сердцем, зафиксировав свой разум на лотусовых
ногах Господа.
With thy sight behold in every heart the Lord of the world-forest, who is fully pervading the ocean and land.
Своим зрением увидь во всех сердцах Господа мира-леса; Он полностью проникает
через океан и землю.
Nanak gives thee a counsel, O my dear soul: Burn thy scepticism in the society of Saints. |1|
Нанак даёт тебе совет, О моя дорогая душа: «В обществе Святых, сожги свой

O dear mind! My friend, without God all the ostentation is false.
О дорогой разум! Мой друг, без Бога – всё тщеславие ложно.
O dear mind! My friend, the world is an ocean of poison.
О дорогой разум! Мой друг, мир – это океан яда.
Make the lotus feet of the Creator thy boat, so that doubt and anguish may not overtake thee.
Сделай лотусовые ноги Творца своей лодкой, так чтобы сомнения и мучения не
смогли тебя настичь.
Whom, through the greatest good luck, the perfect Guru meets, he reflects over the Lord day in and day out.
Тот, кого по величайшей удаче встречает совершенный Гуру, ежедневно размышляет о
Господе.
From the very beginning and throughout the ages, God is the Master of His slaves. His Name is the prop of His Saints.
С самого начала и во все века, Бог является Мастером Своих рабов. Его Имя – это
опора Его Святых.
Nanak counsels thee, O my dear soul, that without God all the show is false. |2|
Нанак даёт тебе заключение, О моя дорогая душа, без Бога всё представление

О моя милая, дружелюбная душа! Так нагрузи же прибыльный груз Имени Господа.
O my darling friendly soul! Do thou occupy the ever stable door of God.
О моя любимая, дружелюбная душа! Так ввойди же во всегда устойчивую дверь Бога.
He, who serves at the door of the imperceptible and inscrutable God, obtains the permanent seat.
Тот, кто служит при дверях нетленного и неисповедимого Бога, получает постоянное
место.
There is no birth and death there, and not any coming and going, and mortal's anxiety and anguish end as well.
Там нет рождения и смерти, и нет никаких приходов и уходов, а беспокойства и
мучения смертного также заканчиваются.
The account - paper of the recording angels, is torn up, and Death's couriers become helpless.
Счёт – бумагу, на которой записывают ангелы, разрывают, и курьеры Смерти
становятся беспомощными.

O my darling friendly soul! Abide thou in the society of Saints.
О моя любимая, дружелюбная душа! Пребывай же в обществе Святых.
O my darling friendly soul! By repeating God's Name, the Divine light shines.
О моя любимая, дружелюбная душа! Когда мы повторяем Имя Божие, сияет
Божественный свет.
Remember your Lord and Master, who is easily obtained, and all desires shall be fulfilled.
Помни своего Господа и Мастера, которого можно легко обрести, и все твои желания
исполнятся.

By virtue of past actions, I have attained to the Lover of eminence - the Lord.
He, who was separated from me since long, has met me.
По добродетели прошлых действий, я достиг Любящего просвящение – Господа. Тот,
кто был разделён со мною так долго, меня встретил.
Within my mind I have obtained faith in Him, who is pervading everywhere within and without.
В своём разуме я обрёл веру в Того, кто проникает через всё внутри и снаружи.
Nanak counsels thee, O my beloved soul! do secure abode in the Saints congregation. |4|
Нанак советует тебе, О моя любимая душа! обеспечить себе жилище в обществе
Святого.
O mind! My dear friend, do thou heartily remain absorbed in the lovable service of God.
О разум! Мой дорогой друг, так будь же всем сердцем поглощён любящей службой
Богу.
O my soul! My dear friend, the mind's fish remains alive only by meeting God's Water.
О моя душа! Моя дорогая подружка, рыбка разума остаётся живой только благодаря
встрече с Божьей Водой.
All the pleasures abide within the mind of those who are satiated by drinking God's ambrosial Gurbani.
Все наслаждения находятся внутри разума людей, насыщенных тем, что они пьют
благоухающее амброзией Гурбани Бога.
On attaining the Lord of excellence, I sing songs of joy. The True Guru has become merciful, and my desires are fulfilled.
Достигнув Господа превосходств, я пою песни радости. Истинный Гуру стал
милосердным, и мои желания исполнились.
The Guru has attached me to the hem of His robe, and I have obtained the nine treasures. The Lord-given Name is everything for me.
Гуру прикрепил меня к подолу Своей мантии, и я обрёл девять сокровищ. Имя,
данное Господом, это всё для меня.
Nanak counsels the Saints to instruct, so that the soul is sunk in the devotional service of God. |5|1|2|
Нанак советует Святым уведомлять так, чтобы душа углублялась в преданную службу
Богу.

There is but one God. Through the True Guru's grace He is obtained.

By seeking the sanctuary of the Saint Guru, O Nanak! Lord, the prop of life, is found. |1|

The life's routine of bearing affection with Lord's lotus feet has entered the mind of His Saints.
Жизненная рутина иметь нежность к лотусовым ногам Господа, вошла в разум Его

Evil practice and bad habit of the love of duality, Lord's slaves like not.
Рабам Господа не нравятся практика зла и плохая привычка любви к двойственности.
Sans Lord's sight, nothing is pleasing to His attendants without Him. How can they have peace even for a moment?
Если они не видят Господа, то ничто не приносит удовольствие Его служителям без
Него. Как могут они иметь покой даже на мгновение?
Without Lord's Name, the body and mind are empty and die like fish sans water.
Без Имени Господа, тело и разум – пусты, и как рыбки без воды, умирают.
Meet me, my Beloved! Thou art the support of my life. Meeting the society of Saints, I sing Thy praises.
Встреть меня, мой Возлюбленный! Ты – поддержка моей жизни. Повстречав общество
Святых, я пою Тебе похвалы.
O Lord of Nanak! Show mercy and permeate Thou this soul, body and heart of mine. |1|
О Господь Нанака! Смилуйся, и пронзи Ты эту душу, тело и сердце моё.

Beauteous looks the Lord at all places. I see not any other.
Господь выглядит прекрасным во всех местах. Я не вижу никого другого.

O Lord! Incomparable and infinite are Thy words. They are the mainstay of Thy Saints. Reflect on Gurbani, O man!
О Господь! Несравнимы и безграничны Твои слова. Они – это главная опора Твоих

With perfect faith, at every breath and morsel of mine, I meditate on the Lord. How can I forget Him in my mind?
С совершенной верой, с каждым вдохом, выдохом и каждой своей частичкой, я
медитирую на Господа. Как я могу забыть Его в своём разуме?
Why should I mentally forget and put off even for a moment the meritorious Master, who is my very life?
Почему я должен мысленно забыть и даже на мгновение отложить достойного похвал
Мастера, являющегося самóй моей жизнью?
The Lord gives the heart desired fruits and knows the entire condition of the mind.
Господь даёт желанные сердцем плоды и знает всё состояние разума.
By meditating on the Patron of the patron-less and the Comrade of all, the life is not wasted away in gamble.
Медитируя на Заступника тех, у которых заступника нет, и на Товарища всех, жизнь
не растрачивается в азартной игре.
Nanak supplicates unto the Master to mercifully make him swim across the dreadful world-ocean. |2|
Нанак умоляет Мастера милосердно сделать так, чтобы он переплыл через ужасный
мир-океан.

When the Lord becomes merciful, man bathes in the dust of the feet of the Saints.

Beautiful is Lord's abode. It is the resting place of His slaves, who live in the hope of getting at it.
Прекрасно жилище Господа. Это место отдыха Его рабов, которые живут в надежде

Their minds and bodies are absorbed in the meditation of the Lord's Name, and they quaff God's Elixir.
Их разум и тело поглощены медитацией Имени Господа, и они большими глотками пьют
Божий Эликсир.
